one to remember!
Take a break from the chains on restaurant row.
Venture off the tourist map for some unique and delicious
meals in the Orlando area.
3. The Ravenous Pig
The Ravenous Pig name says it all. This American gastropub in Winter Park, run by chef
owners James & Julie, brings fun to the modern meatery. This couple has won national
acclaim for creating fresh, creative dishes for “The Pig” and its sister, Cask & Larder.
They work with a select group of local farmers and fisherman to bring the best in
seasonal foods to their menus. House-made sausages and pastas are daily fare along
with fresh Florida seafood. Favorites include Canaveral Shrimp „n Grits, Pork
Porterhouse, and Gruyère Biscuits. Warm fritters with chocolate espresso sauce will end
your meal on a high note. Stop by for Swine Hour Tue-Fri at 4 for the $4 BLT sliders with
tomato jam on pretzel bread or the fish and chips with Worcestershire chips. Be sure to
pick up The Ravenous Pig cookbook to share with your loved ones back home.

4. Kres Chophouse & Lounge
Want a good steak in a modern and elegant ambiance? Kres Chophouse & Lounge
delivers that and more. From the 18-oz Ribeye to the Porterhouse for Two, the steaks are
all house aged and hand cut Angus beef. Chop options include Grove Ranch Colorado
Lamb Chops, Deer River Ranch Elk Loin and Amish Veal T-bone. Seafood and classic
entrees, such as the pan seared chicken and Beef Wellington round out the menu.
Locally owned, Kres was awarded first place in Orlando Magazine‟s 2014 Diner‟s Best
Downtown Restaurant Award.

5. K’s Restaurant
It‟s tough to argue with the farm-to-table philosophy especially when the results are
delicious. Based on the talents of NYC native Chef Kevin Forzo, K‟s menus feature fresh
and local ingredients even from the restaurant‟s own garden and, as such, are subject to
change daily. If you‟re a Northerner, you should try the Southern-style gumbo, the fried
green tomatoes served with crab-corn salad and grain mustard dressing or one of the
selections of freshly caught fish from Florida‟s coast, such as the North Florida Red
Grouper or the Cape Canaveral Mahi. The deviled eggs and mac n‟ cheese also win
wide applause.

6. Chatham’s Place
For an evening of fine dining, try Chatham‟s Place, a cozy place a world apart from the
tourist food scene. For starters, try the lobster bisque or beef carpaccio. Everyone at the
table will enjoy the crispy-crusted bread stuffed with herbs and feta cheese. The rack of
lamb rosemary au jus and the duck breast are stand outs. Chatham‟s provides excellent
service, and the live piano music makes the evening more special. There‟s a sommelier
on staff, but you can bring your own wine if you prefer. Don‟t forget to save room for the
white chocolate soufflé or key lime pie.

7. Mediterranean Blue
Serving fresh Greek fare, Mediterranean Blue offers traditional dishes:
gyros, souvlaki, spanakopita (filo with spinach and feta), dolmades (stuffed grapes
leaves), and moussaka (eggplant casserole) with some interesting additions such as
Greek-seasoned fries. Ask to sample the deli salads, such as black-eyed pea or
cucumber. The tzatziki sauce is thick and rich and the hummus is loaded with garlic. The
baklava will leave you wishing for more. Super casual, the deli atmosphere is a good
place for a quick bite and a beer. 100% Halal.
