1.3. Description of functional blocks
1.3.1. Texas Instruments AM335x Processor
The TI AM335x family in S-PBGA-N324 housing with ZCZ suffix is used as the main
processor.
1.3.2. DDR3 memory
The default configuration uses DDR3 Samsung K4B2G1646E-BCK0000 memory with
256MB capacity (expandable to 512MB).
The physical address of DDR3 begins at 0x8000 0000.
1.3.3. SPI Flash memory
The default configuration uses SPI Flash STMicro M25PE80 memory with 1MB capacity
(The possible options are 128KB, 256KB and 512KB).
The memory is connected to the SPI0 bus.
1.3.4. NAND Flash memory
The default configuration uses NAND Samsung K9F2G08U0C-SCB0T00 memory with
256MB capacity (expandable to 1024MB).
The memory is connected to the GPMC bus with the 8-bit width.
1.3.5. PMIC power controller
TI TPS65217C is used as the PMIC power controller.
PMIC controller is connected to the I2C0 bus and its address is - 0x24.
1.3.6. The boot order for Texas Instruments AM335x
The next boot order is set by default:
1. With NAND Flash installed:
10011 - NAND -> NANDI2C -> MMC0 -> UART0;
2. With SPI Flash installed, but without NAND Flash:
11000 - SPI0 -> MMC0 -> USB0 -> UART0;

1.7. Order code
Identification number Comments
1 A common prefix for all processor modules. Possible variations of values:
MTAX-SOM;
2 Processor name. Possible variations of values:
AM3352 = AM3352ZCZ(D);
AM3354 = AM3354ZCZ(D);
AM3356 = AM3356ZCZ(D);
AM3357 = AM3357ZCZ(D);
AM3358 = AM3358ZCZ(D);
AM3359 = AM3359ZCZ(D);
The footprint of the processor means using versions with ZCZ or ZCZD postfix (15x15mm BGA-
324, 0.8mm pinch). ZCZ - commercial performance, ZCZD - industrial performance.
3 Temperature performance. Possible variations of values:
C = (0 ... 70)°С;
I = (-40 ... 85)°С;
4 Presence/absence of NAND FLASH. Possible variations of values:
N;
<empty>
(1)
;
(1)
- for example, MTAX-SOM-AM3359-I80 will mean no NAND FLASH on the module
5 Clock speed of the processor. Possible variations of values:
30 = 300MHz;
60 = 600MHz
(2)
;
80 = 800MHz;
17. Full datasheet
Page 17 Full datasheet: Processor module based on Texas Instruments AM335x
100 = 1000MHz;
(2)
- AM3359, AM3357 do not support the clock speed
6 Postfix specifying the module configuration, if it is different from the basic configuration
(3)
.
Possible variations of values:
(DDR3 2GBit, NAND 2Gbit, SPIF 8Mbit);
(DDR3 2GBit, NAND 2Gbit);
(DDR3 2GBit, NAND 4Gbit, SPIF 8Mbit);
(DDR3 2GBit, NAND 4Gbit);
...
(DDR3 4GBit, NAND 16Gbit, SPIF 8Mbit);
(DDR3 4GBit, NAND 16Gbit);
DDR3 2Gbit = K4B2G1646E;
DDR3 4Gbit = K4B4G1646B;
NAND 2Gbit = K9F2G08U0C (on request)
(4)
;
NAND 4Gbit = K9F4G08U0D(on request)
(4)
;
NAND 8Gbit = K9K8G08U0D(on request)
(4)
;
NAND 16Gbit = K9WAG08U0D(on request)
(4)
;
SPIF 8Mbit = M25PE80;
(3)
- the basic configuration of the module includes DDR3 2Gbit, NAND FLASH 2Gbit and SPIF
8MBit. To refer to the basic configuration is not necessary to add the postfix "6". Thus, MTAX-
SOM-AM3352-IN80 is equivalent to MTAX-SOM-AM3352-IN80 (DDR3 2GBit, NAND 2Gbit,
SPIF 8Mbit).
(4)
- due to the confidentiality of information, the documentation will be sent on request.
By default, Embedded Linux OS has been programmed to run in the module.
