- PROBLEM STATEMENT Bichi (2010) examined land accessibility and implications for housing development in Kano Metropolis, Nigeria. The study did not examine the land administration system in the study area. Ayoola et al (2014) analysed the activities of Land administration machineries in Abuja and Minna in Nigeria and discovered that, Delay of process; Extortion of money by government officials and Exorbitant Processing Cost. Aribigbola (2008) conducted a study on Urban land use planning and management in Akure, Nigeria. His findings revealed that land management and control tools are either not available or weakly implemented and disjointed and uncoordinated Unnecessary delays in obtaining land title and land title information. Causing failure and abandonment of many developmental projects. therefore, improvement on the existing system. RQ What are the components of Land administration? What frameworks are available in literature for assessing land information systems? What indicators could be identified to assess the functionality of the Land Information System in the study area? How does the Land Information System in the study area respond to the identified indicators? How can the Land Information System be improved in the study area?
- The aim of this study is to examine the Land information system for Land Administration in the study area with a view to assess its effectiveness review Land Administration and Land information systems identify the stakeholders and functions of the land information system for land administration in the study area assess the effectiveness of the land information system for land administration in the study area proffer recommendation for improvement
- Subsistence and commercial agriculture is mostly practised in the outlying districts of the state. Some of the food crops cultivated are millet, cowpeas, sorghum, maize and rice for local consumption while groundnuts and cotton are produced for export and industrial purposes. the largest in Northern Nigeria with textile, tanning, footwear, cosmetics, plastics, enamelware, pharmaceuticals, ceramics, furniture and other industries. Others include agricultural implements, soft drinks, food and beverages, dairy products, vegetable oil, animal feeds etc. In the month of June, 2017 approval was granted by the Executive Governor for the integration of the Ministry of Lands and Physical Planning with Kano Geographic Information System (KANGIS) for the establishment of the Kano State Bureau for Land Management.
