Change the System: Socially Responsible Data Science and You

Human decisions scaffold every automated decision making system. When these systemic outcomes disparately and unfairly impact entire populations, the focus of accountability tends to criticize the "algorithm" first. We as technologists have the responsibility to build better systems with and for humans. We will discuss how these intelligent systems are designed, why designing with machine learning is different, and how to evolve your process to create a more equitable solution for everyone.
