Keeping Maine Children Safe
1.
2. Our Mission Statement Our projects intended mission is to bring an existing non-profit organization that helps to identify lost and missing children, to an annual event held in Millinocket on December 3 rd 2011. The MECHIP or Maine Child Identification Program advocates for parents and children by creating individual packet of specific and detailed information about each child. The safety record includes: fingerprints, pictures, DNA cheek swab and a video interview. Our main goal is to bring MECHIP to the Millinocket community for the first time and give parents this wonderful opportunity. We hope to raise awareness of MECHIP and child safety, and for every child to get their identification record. We feel that getting this organization here will help spread the word to families through out Maine. Something that is free and as important as child safety should not be overlooked. The records may never prevent a child from going missing but they could certainly prevent them from never being found.
38. A TOTAL SUCCESS!!! MECHIP came to Millinocket for the first time! 70 children received their identification records on December 3 rd 2011 at Stearns High School in Millinocket! MECHIP was invited to return to Christmas in Katahdin next year and every year! We spread the word and parents continue to ask how they can get ID records for their children!
