Quando ho chiuso gli occhi c’era una luce bianca a indicarmi
la via. Così l’ho seguita, tra spiagge e foreste, borghi di mare
e case di legno, la purezza del freddo con il calore del vento.
Attraverso vicoli antichi e terrazze sul futuro, fin dentro il cortile di
una dimora senza tempo. Ma in ogni luogo.
C’era un albero altissimo proprio al centro, che si alzava oltre il
tetto, al di là del vetro.

illuminava tutto, e ho riconosciuto la
casa e la veranda dove inseguivo il

Ultimamente esco poco e leggo

il mondo adesso mi basta passare
dallo studio al salotto. Attraverso
quadri, oggetti, le pagine dei libri,
i volti e i paesaggi delle mie foto.
Sono tanti anni che vivo a New York,
eppure più il tempo passa e più
mi sento attaccato alle mie radici.
Nella mia stanza ho un disegno
di quando ero bambino. Vedo le case
della mia gente, i colori della mia
terra e il profumo di un’esistenza
lontana eppure così forte e profonda.

I travel through paintings, objects,
pages of books, the faces and
landscapes of my photographs.
I’ve been living in NewYork for a long
time and yet the more time passes the
more I feel connected to my roots. I
have a drawing from when I was
a child in my room. I see the homes
of my people, the colours of my land
and the smell of a distant and yet
powerful and deep existence.

in New York, a loft in the heart of Manhattan.
Tonight is the night before a debut. It’s nice to
loose herself in the ritual of memories. Sitting
in her favourite armchair, looking at her parquet
flooring, the ballerina grips a lucky charm. It is
a small block of wood from the Parisian stage
where she began taking ballet lessons.

She chose the flooring of her loft based on her
lucky charm, a well-worn wood that recalls those
wooden boards filled with history, that have
supported art, decorated sets and absorbed the
sweat of dancers. She had to save a small piece
for herself. She had to decorate her home with
