The New York State's Family Medical Leave Act starts Jan 2018. Business owners and managers should be aware of the requirements and the employment laws surrounding the new legislation. Small businesses are not exempt. Employees will be eligible for up to 12 weeks of paid family leave for specific reasons and employers have several obligations under the law when employees take leave.
