The power of measuring results
• If you do not measure results, you
cannot tell success from failure.
• If you cannot see success, you cannot
reward it.
• If you cannot reward success, you are
probably rewarding failure.
• If you cannot see success, you cannot
learn from it.
• If you cannot recognize failure, you
cannot correct it.
• If you can demonstrate results, you
can win public support.

What is results based management?
Results based management is a method
focusing on the delivery of results over time.
It aims to link ultimate outcomes (long term)
with intermediate outcomes (medium term)
to immediate outcomes (short term). This
links to outputs, activities and steps through
logical cause effect chains.
Outputs are evaluated and tracked. Whereas
outcomes or results are measured and
monitored, hence the term monitoring and
evaluation.

What makes results based management complex?
• It is difficult and tedious to make the links between ultimate outcomes and
detailed steps. Additionally, there is difficulty in sustaining logical cause-effect
relationships between all the parts of the solution – such a project can often take
months.
• It is not easy to maintain an overview of the complete plan. Plans are contained in
volumes of tables, books and presentations that make it difficult to communicate,
visualize, track and to recognize gaps and overlaps.
• There are often no clear links between the plans and the process of the
departments
• Integration alignment across multiple governmental departments using this way of
organizing plans becomes a nightmare.

Scientrix provides a digital solution

matrix based concept was
developed by Rentia Muell in
2004. This concept embeds the
key principles of improved

Scientrix provides the architecture for an integrated plan. It allows an
overview of the whole and keeps the parts of the solution together,
thereby facilitating better coordination between the parts.
The Scientrix matrices visualize the solution better and act as story-
boards. This makes communication and knowledge transfer easy.
The Scientrix matrices reduce complexity and increase the speed with
which planning is done. Scientrix pockets and prioritizes the ideas
better, and thereby facilitates more effective execution.
The Scientrix technology enables the monitoring and evaluation in a
collaborative way and ensures successful implementation.

Steps are organized in via an initiative dashboard. This helps with the
tracking of steps from idea creation until implementation.
Measurement are linked to outcomes and results are tracked and
monitored via a colour coded health check.

  • 5. What is results based management? Results based management is a method focusing on the delivery of results over time. It aims to link ultimate outcomes (long term) with intermediate outcomes (medium term) to immediate outcomes (short term). This links to outputs, activities and steps through logical cause effect chains. Outputs are evaluated and tracked.   • 6. What makes results based management complex? • It is difficult and tedious to make the links between ultimate outcomes and detailed steps. Additionally, there is difficulty in sustaining logical cause-effect relationships between all the parts of the solution – such a project can often take months. • It is not easy to maintain an overview of the complete plan. Plans are contained in volumes of tables, books and presentations that make it difficult to communicate, visualize, track and to recognize gaps and overlaps. • There are often no clear links between the plans and the process of the departments • Integration alignment across multiple governmental departments using this way of organizing plans becomes a nightmare. 2005 – 2015 Scientrix Holdings Ltd.
