This document describes an IoT-based smart security system for women. The system uses a smart band connected via Bluetooth to a smartphone. The band monitors vital signs and movement. If signs of distress are detected, the smartphone app uses GPS and GSM to automatically send alerts and location to emergency contacts and authorities without any human intervention. The system aims to address issues like delayed response from existing personal security devices that require manual activation. It provides automated protection using IoT technology for increased safety and security of women.

Asst professor, Dept. of CSE,
K.S. Institute of Technology
2. Introduction
In Ancient India women held a high place of respect in the
society.
It means : The universal truth is that in a house, all the deities
are pleased where women are honored and no meritorious
deed will not yield any result where they are abused.
Woman is a symbol of love, purity, sacrifice etc.
2
“यत्र नाययस्तु पूज्यन्ते रमन्ते तत्र देवता: ।
यत्रैतास्तु न पूज्यन्ते सवायस्तत्राफला: क्रिया: ।”
3. Crime against Women
Domestic Violence – Hitting, kicking, biting, shoving, restraining,
throwing objects.
Criminal Violence - threats, sexual abuse, emotional abuse,
control &domineering, intimidation, stalking, and economic
deprivation, rape, abduction, kidnapping and murder
Social Violence - Eve-teasing, forcing wife/daughter-in-law to
go for feticide etc.
3
4. Laws to Protect Women
Categories
4
A. The Crimes Under the Indian Penal Code(IPC)
I. Rape (section 376IPC)
II. Kidnapping and Abduction for specified purposes (section 363-373IPC)
III. Homicide for dowry, deaths or attempts (section 302/304-B IPC)
IV. Torture –both mental & physical (section 498-A IPC)
V. Assault on women with an intent to outrage her modesty (sec. 354)
VI. Insult to the modesty of women (sec. 509 IPC)
VII. Importation of girls from foreign countries (366-B IPC)
B. The crimes under special and local laws(SLL)
I. The Immoral Traffic (prevention) Act -1956
II. The Dowry Prohibition Act-1961
III. The Indecent Representation (Prohibition) Act-1986
IV. The Commission of Sati Prevention Act-1987
6. Statistics
6
92 women raped in India every
day, 4 in Delhi.
Cases Recorded!
1.Delhi(2013) - 1636 cases
2.Mumbai(2013) - 391 cases
3.Jaipur(2013) - 192 cases
4.Pune(2013) - 171 cases
7. Causes for the Crime?
Films and Media – Ads and Films with Vulgarity
Misuse of Internet – India ranks 2nd in watching
porn over the internet
Patriarchy Philosophy
Liquor – Loss of Self Control. 75% of rapes are done
by people known
7
8. Existing System for Women
Security
SHE (Society Harnessing Equipment) – Garment that generates
3800kV, up to 80 electric shocks
ILA security – 3 personal alarms to shock an attacker
AESHS (Advanced Electronics System for Human Safety) – tracks
Victim Location
VithU app – Alert messages to contacts when button is pressed
Smart Belt – Garment with an alarm system, activated when
pressed
8
Drawback : Requires human Intervention
9. Problem statement
9
To build a security system for women that
is completely automated and requires
no human interference whatsoever.
11. Advantages over existing
Technology
Automated
Comfortable and Easy to Use
Reduced Cost
Reduced Size
Smart Phone Based
Bluetooth Low Energy(BLE) – Less Energy, more
durability
11
12. About the device
12
The device is an integration of multiple hardware devices.
“Smart band” which continuously communicates with Smart
phone that has access to the internet.
Application on Smart Phone programmed and loaded with
human behavior and reactions.
Signals generated by Smart Band transmitted to the
application on Smart Phone.
Application with access to GPS and Messaging Services
preprogrammed to send help request messages and
location coordinates to nearest police station, relatives and
people in the near radius.
13. Approach-Working
13
The Smart phone is connected to Smart Band through Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE).
Smart Band communicates with the Smart Phone via a specially designed API
Wrist unit collects data from human being using body temperature sensor, pulse
rate sensor and switches.
RF module is used to send data from wrist unit to the control unit.
The application continuously monitors the pulse rate, temperature and motion
detected by smart band.
Control Unit collects information from smart wrist unit and location co-ordinates
from GPS module.
GSM Module will then send the location coordinates and help messages from
control unit to the base station from which the messages are forwarded to the
nearest police station, relatives and close by public if the incident occurs.
16. Requirements
Hardware
Pulse Rate Sensor
Smart Phone (With GSM and
GPS support, RAM:1GB)
Temperature Sensor LM35
Series
BLE Module (1,000mAh coin
cell battery)
Motion Sensor
Software
Global Positioning
System(GPS)
GSM 300
Application acting as an
interface between Smart
Phone and Smart Band
16
17. A. PULSE RATE SENSOR
Heart beat sensor gives digital output of heart beat.
Range: 1.2 GHz – 1.6 GHz
Combines optical heart rate sensor with amplification and noise
cancellation circuitry for accurate reading.
Digital output from LED blip is connected to Microcontroller to get Beats
per min (BPM).
17
18. B. GSM300 MODULE
Used to send data from control unit to base unit.
Range: 900MHz
uplink band - 890MHz to 915MHz
down link Band - 935MHz to 960 MHz
Uses both FDMA & TDMA
In 25MHz BW, 124 carriers are generated with
channel spacing of 200 KHz (FDMA). Each carrier is
split into 8 time slots (TDMA).
992 speech channels available at any instance of time
18
19. C. DUAL TECHNOLOGY MOTION
SENSOR
device that detects moving objects.
Types : Passive infrared, Microwave, Ultrasonic, Tomographic motion
detector, Video camera software etc
combining multiple sensing technologies into one detector help reduce
false triggering
19
A passive infrared detector
mounted on circuit board (right),
along with photoresistive detector
for visible light (left).
20. D. BLE (Bluetooth Low energy)
BLE is designed to connect devices with low power
consumption.
Lasts a year on 1000mAh coin cell battery.
Uses Bluetooth Smart Protocol which transmits small packets compared
to Bluetooth Classic.
20
21. E. TEMPERATURE SENSOR LM35
Temperature sensor measures the body temperature.
LM35 series - precision integrated-circuit temperature devices with an
output voltage linearly-proportional to the Centigrade temperature.
Operates linearly
+10.0mV/°C scale factor with 0.5°C accuracy
21
22. F. GPS MODULE
Global positioning system (GPS) – determines latitude and longitude
of a receiver on Earth by calculating the time difference for signals
from various satellites to reach the receiver
24 MEO (Medium-Earth Orbit) satellites revolve in 6 orbits 24 hours
around the earth transmitting location every second.

To make it much clear as to what is happeneing in today’s society and the attrocities done agaisnt woman lets watcha video. This woman was harassed in public… This is a clear indication that the streets are not safe for woman or girls and it is our duty to make them safer.
Inspite of having so many laws against we are rich with crimes … prevention is better than cure… following is the aim of our project.
