6 Ways to Recharge Batteries at Work
1. 6
QUICK WAYS TO RECHARGE
YOUR BATTERIES AT WORK
HARNESS SOLAR POWER
1
Here comes the sun, and some stress relief. If the sun is
shining, head outside for a quick lift to your spirits. Natural
sunlight causes the skin to produce vitamin D3, a
prohormone vital for the body’s absorption of calcium, the
development of healthy bones, and proper muscle function.
On cloudy days, switch on an extra nearby lamp to enhance
your mood and give yourself more energy.
DEMOLISH DISORDER
You know the adage: a cluttered desk is the sign of a
cluttered mind. Take 10 minutes to sort the documents on
your desk, put away the tape dispenser, pencils and
paperclips. A disorganized work space is likely contributing
to your feeling overwhelmed. Add structure and orderliness
to what is immediately in front of your eyes and breathe a
big sigh of relief!

TAKE A (SHORT) HIATUS
Sometimes recharging our batteries is as simple as pushing
ourselves away from the computer and taking a 10-minute
timeout from work. Throughout the course of the day,
multitasking and deadlines push us to our breaking points.
Before that happens, hit the RESET button. Grab a coffee or
tea, mediate, take a walk, browse the internet, stretch, or
anything else that momentarily distracts you from
the task at hand.

MUSIC THERAPY
4
Switch on the soundtrack to your life. Music plays such an
enormous role in modern life that we tend to ration our days
by playlists: “getting ready for work” playlist, “commute”
playlist, “exercise” playlist, “cooking” playlist, “bedtime”
playlist, etc… add a “relax” playlist to your Spotify and soak
in soothing tunes whenever you feel your stress level rising.
EXERCISE
5
Ah, lovely endorphins! Jump up when you’re feeling low and
get your body moving. If you don’t have time to fit in a gym
session, find the office break room and do some jumping
jacks, pushups, squats, or any other movement that gets
your heart rate up. Exercise produces “feel-good”
endorphins, proven to boost your mood, reduce stress and
combat depression.
SCHEDULE A 1:1 WITH YOURSELF
Everyone needs a little “me” time once in a while. Between
your boss, coworkers, clients, kids, spouses and friends, the
notion of Alone Time can seem fairly foreign. Try scheduling
an official 1:1 with yourself to read that article you
bookmarked weeks ago, give your best friend a call to catch
up, try the new café that opened down the street… you get
the idea. Do something for you!
