- Communication network is going to be a major part of internet of things. AT&T is rapidly adapting its network infrastructure to be a fit for internet of things applications. Also the company has partnered with major IoT hardware manufacturers like IBM, Cisco, Intel and GE to become a de facto network provider for their devices. Currently AT&T is offering IoT solutions for energy management, fleet management, connected cars and some other industrial applications. Machine to Machine technology is somewhat applying concepts of internet of things for long. Axeda is one of the few companies that are purely working on IoT and M2M technology integration. It is offering cloud based data analytics services to companies to collect and analyze data collected through their devices and sensors remotely. Internet of things is at core of its heart connecting sensors and devices to collect maximum data and analyze it. Routers, networks and communication protocols are what make this connection possible. Let me ask you which company comes to your mind first when I say routers and communication protocols. CISCO, bingo! You got it right. IoT environment is very much dependent on personal preferences of people. Officially, Facebook has made a clear indication towards its interest in internet of things during the 2015. Facebook knows a lot about our preferences and has data that can be a lot valuable to advertisers and service providers. GE has already IoT solutions on offer for industries like airline fuel optimization, hospital operation management, energy management and transportation. HP made a move by acquiring Aruba Networks. Company aims to introduce line of connected routers and switches as parts of its internet of things hardware product offering. IBM is never behind to make it big in technologies that specifically involve IT. There are some excellent IoT products offering by IBM that include: BlueMix- IoT app development platform for data collection and analysis MessageSight- M2M messaging platform MobileFirst – Enabling mobile capabilities in objects IoT will not only produce massive data like never before but will also pose a challenge to store and retrieve data at the same time. Oracle is well aware of this challenge and has a suite of services on offer. According to the saleforce IoT is not only about connecting machines and devices but also about connected marketing and product analysis. Focus of Qualcomm in IoT is based on wearables, automotive, education and healthcare.
- Cloud computing infrastructure is an inevitable part of Internet of things. Amazon Web Services is the leading and one of the biggest infrastructure cloud company. It gives Amazon an edge in IoT business competition. Amazon is a major player when it comes to internet of things. Remember the deal where Google bought Nest (automated thermostat company) for whopping $3.2 billion. This was the moment when the search giant indicated its venture into internet of things Samsung smart TVs and Washing Machines are already provided with internet connectivity and data sharing capabilities. In segment of internet of things Apple is part of wearable industry and it focusing mainly on theApple Watch. Microsoft wants to make IoT application possible for daily business activities. Microsoft Azure is another product which is used in its services like Intelligent Systems.
