ETHICAL AND MORAL
RELATIVISM
2. ETHICAL
RELATIVISM
Is the position that
all points of view
are equally valid
and the individual
determines what is
true and relative for
them.
Some slogan relativists are:
What’s right for you
may not be what’s
right for me. What’s right for my culture
won’t necessarily be what’s
right for your culture.
No moral principles are
true for all people at all
times and in all places.
Ethical relativism
represents the
position that there
are no moral
absolutes, no
moral right or
wrong
his philosophy
allows people to
mutate ethically as
the culture,
knowledge, and
technology change
in society
Subjective ethical
relativism supports
the view that the
truth of moral
principles is relative
to individuals
Subjective relativism
allows you to be
sovereign over the
principles that dictate
how you live your life.
3. MORAL
RELATIVISM
May be any of
several philosophical positions
concerned with the
differences
in moral judgments across
different people and cultures
Moral relativism has
steadily been accepted
as the primary moral
philosophy of modern
society, a culture that
was previously
governed by a "Judeo-
Christian" view of
morality.
Moral relativism is the
view that ethical
standards, morality,
and positions of right
or wrong are culturally
based and therefore
subject to a person's
individual choice
Moral Relativism is a
worldview. To
determine for
yourself which
position to hold
where morality is
concerned, you
must first determine
what you believe
about the origin of
life
