Convergence culture refers to the merging of different forms of media. There are five types of convergence: technological, where old media transforms into new digital formats; economic, seen in companies controlling different media properties; global, with media spreading worldwide; social or organic, when people use multiple media simultaneously; and cultural, with consumers empowered to create and share content. Convergence culture has brought media together and allowed it to become integrated into many aspects of modern life.
