BPI group has established this Executive Employment Trends Report to offer visibility into the current
executive job market. We are committed to quality and results in our outplacement programs, and believe
that keeping a careful eye on trends in the market is an important way to ensure that we are meeting the
needs of our career transition clients. The findings of this report are based on a survey of our executive
clients who began their job search from Q3 2015 through Q4 2016.
The Executive Employment Trends Report includes analysis of the following executive employment trends:
– Average length of the executive job search
– How the length of the job search is impacted by various factors, including:
• Base Salary Level
• Education Level
• Age
We look forward to continuing to share the latest trends in executive employment. If you would like to learn
more about our approach to executive advisory services, please connect with us at info@bpi-group.us.

A Positive 2017 Outlook for Executive Talent
2017 promises to be a great year for job seekers. With the unemployment rate remaining low—it’s been 5% or lower for 17
consecutive months
1
—qualified job seekers are in high demand by employers seeking to fill an increasing number of open positions. As
of January, job growth has been positive for a record 75 consecutive months.
2
As a result, job seekers also have an advantage in the
negotiation process to command higher salaries. In fact, in Q1 we found that over half of our executive career transition clients
landed new positions with greater compensation than that of their previous positions. It’s truly an employee’s market today.
National executive unemployment also remains low, on top of projected 6% growth of executive positions from 2014 to 2024.
3
This
flourishing of management roles is a reflection of the bright outlook for the U.S. economy—the result of new business creation and
growth of existing organizations, all of which require experienced executive talent. Organizations are ever more pressed to hire and
place the right people in management positions. According to Gallup’s research, organizations may be failing to connect the right
executive talent to the right role as much as 82% of the time.
4
The higher the level of management, the higher the stakes for the
organization.
This is why we at BPI group are dedicated to working with our executive clients to analyze a job offer
to ensure alignment of the offer and needs of both the individual and organization. In this job market,
our clients can afford to be discerning. We look forward to a successful 2017 for our executive clients,
as we renew our commitment to helping them find fulfillment in the next step in their career.

Education Level
EXECUTIVE EMPLOYMENT TRENDS REPORT Q1 2017
Key Takeaway: Those holding either a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree landed new jobs at nearly equal rates of around 4.5
months. This continued the trend observed throughout 2016 of an equalization in average job search length across levels of
education. Historically, we have observed those with Master’s degrees landing the fastest. That those with Master’s and
Bachelor’s degrees are landing new jobs at comparable rates may reflect the increasingly competitive market for talent.

Executive Employment Trends Report Q1 2017

  • 1.
  • 2. © BPI2 ©BPIgroup BPI group has established this Executive Employment Trends Report to offer visibility into the current executive job market. We are committed to quality and results in our outplacement programs, and believe that keeping a careful eye on trends in the market is an important way to ensure that we are meeting the needs of our career transition clients. The findings of this report are based on a survey of our executive clients who began their job search from Q3 2015 through Q4 2016. The Executive Employment Trends Report includes analysis of the following executive employment trends: – Average length of the executive job search – How the length of the job search is impacted by various factors, including: • Base Salary Level • Education Level • Age We look forward to continuing to share the latest trends in executive employment. • 3. © BPI3 ©BPIgroup A Positive 2017 Outlook for Executive Talent 2017 promises to be a great year for job seekers. With the unemployment rate remaining low—it’s been 5% or lower for 17 consecutive months 1 —qualified job seekers are in high demand by employers seeking to fill an increasing number of open positions. As of January, job growth has been positive for a record 75 consecutive months. 2 As a result, job seekers also have an advantage in the negotiation process to command higher salaries. In fact, in Q1 we found that over half of our executive career transition clients landed new positions with greater compensation than that of their previous positions. It’s truly an employee’s market today. National executive unemployment also remains low, on top of projected 6% growth of executive positions from 2014 to 2024. 3 This flourishing of management roles is a reflection of the bright outlook for the U.S. economy—the result of new business creation and growth of existing organizations, all of which require experienced executive talent. Organizations are ever more pressed to hire and place the right people in management positions. According to Gallup’s research, organizations may be failing to connect the right executive talent to the right role as much as 82% of the time. 4 The higher the level of management, the higher the stakes for the organization. This is why we at BPI group are dedicated to working with our executive clients to analyze a job offer to ensure alignment of the offer and needs of both the individual and organization. In this job market, our clients can afford to be discerning. We look forward to a successful 2017 for our executive clients, as we renew our commitment to helping them find fulfillment in the next step in their career.
