  7. Katie) Alright, now let’s get started! Welcome everyone to leadership lessons from a pandemic, a panel webinar with BizLibrary and BambooHR. I’m Katie Miller, the Marketing Events strategist at BizLibrary, and I’ll be your moderator today – please send in questions through the group chat or Q&A and I’ll deliver as many as we can to the panelists. Now! Let’s meet your panelists. First up is Libby Mullen, the Director of Talent Development & Learning Culture at BizLibrary. (Libby turns mic and says hello) Next up is Amy Frampton, the VP of Marketing at BambooHR. (Amy turns mic and says hello) (Katie) Thank you so much for being here, ladies!

(Katie) Like many of you in the audience today, Libby and Amy have had faced many challenges trying to lead employees, teams, and other leaders through obstacles that have arose from this pandemic. Libby do you mind telling the audience your story and how you position has changed since the pandemic started? Libby tells her story first – taking her onboarding program completely virtual, the challenges, the process, the success. (Katie) Thanks for sharing your story, Libby! Amy, we’d love to hear your story as well. Then Amy tells her story – new leader helping her team figure out how to work with each other remotely, keeping morale high while never meeting these people in person. Thank you, ladies! I think it’s a great reminder to everyone that this is TOUGH. There is no guide or step-by-step plan, because nobody has ever been through this sort of thing. So, we’re all here to learn from each other.
  9. (Katie) One thing that I think we’ve all had to learn from this pandemic is how to adapt to our new environment, where ever that may be. Through all the hardships, have come a lot of triumphs as well and we’ve uncovered some superpowers that we didn’t know we had. (AMY) That’s right, Katie! ……(Amy tells the story of the co-worker who gave a presentation with her baby on her lap.) (Libby) Amy I absolutely love that story. I feel like my superpower is…. (Libby) What are some of your superpowers? TYPE IN THE GROUP CHAT - Libby & Katie can read a few
  10. (Katie) Thank you everyone for sharing your superpowers! Now, let’s get into your questions. Since we’re all struggling to find our footing in our new work environments, it can be hard to focus on your company culture. But, we know that’s one of the most important things you can do during times of uncertainty. So Libby, how is BizLibrary maintaining a strong company culture? (Amy follows with what Bamboo is doing) LIVE QUESTIONS: Answer 1-2 questions SEED QUESTIONS: - Why is company culture so important? - What’s the first step in building a strong company culture, if you don’t have one already?
  11. (Katie) When you have a strong company culture, you’re bond to have more engaged employees. But during a worldwide crisis, where leaders have been met with some real tough decisions, like furloughs and layoffs – engagement can be hard to foster. So, another great question we received was “How can we keep our employees engaged right now?” Amy goes first – drive-ins, etc Libby follows – resource roundup, virtual happy hours, having more conversations LIVE QUESTIONS: Answer 1-2 questions SEED QUESTIONS: How can you keep a small group of employees engaged? What are ways you can create relationships between our front-line staff and office workers, who are working remotely? What can you do if you’re company’s budget is tight right now?

(Katie) With everything changing so quickly, one day we think we’re going back to the office and the next day cases rise and that completely changes, so what are some of the best ways that leaders should be communicating to their employees? Libby, what communication tips do you have? Personal and professional conversations, and why both are needed right now Amy follows with what Libby said LIVE QUESTIONS: Answer 1-2 questions SEED QUESTIONS: How often should we be communicating with our employees? What are some ways you can check if an employee is okay without being able to see them/be with them in person?
  13. (Katie) Amy, I think you’re in a very challenging position as you’ve taken on a new leadership role during a pandemic. So, what are some must have skills that you think all leaders need right now? Amy, talks about encourage her team to be innovated Libby follows - Need to be ready and agile for anything - have confidence as ourselves as leaders LIVE QUESTIONS: Answer 1-2 questions SEED QUESTIONS: How do leaders have time to learn new skills while everything else seems to be falling down around them? What are some strategies to become a coach and not a boss
  14. (Katie) It sounds like you’ve both learned a lot about yourself and your teams during this time, but what’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far from leading during a pandemic? (Libby starts) – communication is key, Purposeful reflection (Amy) – having a growth mindset and giving yourself grace
