What is Quality in Blended Learning?

  • 3. Why Edmodo?  changes in education  more modern ways of teaching  experiments with more independent, student paced models  need for a digital learning platform
  • 4. Why Business English?  Course not bound by the national curriculum  Small group  Older students  Edmodo in use throughout the course (6 weeks)
  • 5. How to meet the quality criteria?  Setting personal goal for the teaching experiment  Informing & brainstorming with students  incorporating course goals into the experiment  Outlining number and type of assignments  Explaining criteria for evaluation
  • 6. What did we use Edmodo for?  Pre-course assignment (SLUSH)  Hate small talk? -assignment  Business travel -assignment (quiz)  Financial terms assignment (quizlet + quiz)  Business letters in small groups  Learning diaries in small groups  Sharing material & links

  • 10. What didn't work?  At times difficult to motivate students to use Edmodo  use of various other platforms at the same time 0365, GAFE, tablettikoulu..  Using two communation tools
  • 11. Meeting the quality criteria?  Use of a new learning platform  Involving students in the planning  Covered planned content  Various types of assingments  Both teacher and peer evaluation
  • 12. Future?  Need for change in education still present  Edmodo?  positive feedback from pilot participants  Used also on BLQ Pilot Course
