• Takes time – Takes a lot of Practice – Teachers
have responsibility to help students
• Don’t throw students to the wolves – Plan the
curriculum accordingly
• Creates a more Personalized Learning

• Students need to know where they stand
• “Great Job!” “Excellent!” is not feedback
• Students need instant feedback
• Use technology for instant feedback
– Different tools like Plickers, Nearpod, Google
Forms, Padlet, TodayMeet
• Students also need to be able to give feedback
to educators
– Email, Twitter, Padlet, RemindHQ, Slack

but the focus needs to be on how you use
them.
• We need to get rid of the term “Blended
Learning” – it needs to become “Learning”

• Limit the amount of lectures/direct instruction
• If you don’t know much about personalizing
instruction, be a learner
– Use the 4 C’s to become stronger
– Read and Research
– See what others are doing

• The most growth occurs when healthy student-
teacher relationships exist.
• We tell our staff to focus on the portion of the
OTES rubric on “Classroom Environment”
– Why do so many people not like going to the BMV?
– Compare that to a Dentist Office?
• If there is not a positive environment in your
classroom/building, you do not have a very good
chance of helping students grow.

Relationships & Environment • The most growth occurs when healthy student- teacher relationships exist. • We tell our staff to focus on the portion of the OTES rubric on “Classroom Environment” – Why do so many people not like going to the BMV? – Compare that to a Dentist Office? • If there is not a positive environment in your classroom/building, you do not have a very good chance of helping students grow. #BFKSOAR
