Admin can select the inventory and direction for sync:
– Select “VMware management” to sync VMware inventory from CA
Unified Infrastructure Management to CA Spectrum
– Select “Server management” to sync server inventory from CA Unified

– Select “CA Spectrum-UIM Bidirectional Management” to sync alarms

probe in the CA Unified Infrastructure
Management admin console by selecting
“Activate”
– Admin can then configure the probe by
selecting “Configure” option

Recommended Deployment Practices
§ CA Spectrum
– Enable integration on a OneClick server that is connected to the MLS and not integrated
with CA Spectrum Report Manager
§ CA Spectrum Gateway probe
– Ensure probe is deployed in the same network where CA Spectrum OneClick server is
installed
§ CA UIM – NISAPI
– Deploy the nisapi(wasp) on server where CA UIM UMP is deployed

§ CA Unified Infrastructure Management
– Hosting vCenters on virtual machines that are being monitored by a vmware probe can
cause self/cross-hosting issues
§ Solution: Set prevent_vcenter_correlation raw configure option as true in the
vmware probe.
– Ensure no overlaps between origins
– Do not monitor a server/VM from multiple origins
– Make NAS alarms visible to synchronize CA UIM alarms with CA Spectrum
§ VMware environment
– Ensure VMware tools installed on all VMs
