Introduction
I’m a hardworking, professional, computer literate and enthusiastic individual I always give my fullest in any capacity. I’m
keen on self-development and like to share my knowledge, skills & experience with others. I currently work within the
recruitment section of Human Resources at Merseyside Police and have been praised for my work by Chief Officers and
Head Management. I was rewarded as a nominee for Agency Staff of the Year in 2013. Since working for two of the
biggest organisations in Merseyside (both being different natures of business), I’ve learned the values of team work,
working to deadlines, independence and communication internally and to members of the general public. I was given
temporary promotion in 2014 and was accredited for how quickly I established myself in the role by recruiting specialist
staff of the Estate Strategy Section under the harsh reality of the force reductions due to government budget cuts.
Personally I believe my area of expertise is I.T, I consider myself excellent in accurate data entry and I am comfortable in
adapting to new systems but more specifically dealing with large amounts of data, extracting and manipulating it into
ways it can be easily used and displayed. I plan in the near future to undertake an after-hours course in SQL to further my
development.

Pathways
Assisting the Development Unit in inputting all detective policing history and policing qualifications into a
master spread sheet, this helped the Chief Officer’s Group (COG) to extract information to help deploy
detectives in roles suited to their skills and experience.
• NPoCC Database
Assisting the Academy in adding ALL force employees with their portfolios to the NPoCC Mercury database
within a 2 week deadline. I was an ‘acting’ team leader in this project, dividing the workload between five
clerical officers and myself, I wrote reports calculating estimated timescales, liaising with other department to
retrieve information relating to (NAMES, DIVERSITY, POSITION, AVAILABILITY, and ABSENCE) I independently
manage this database consisting of over 6000 entries and 25,000 pieces of data. Every quarterly year, I
update this system by locating and removing duplicates and remove employees that are no longer in the
force along with adding new entries and portfolio’s.
• FlexiTime Spread
sheet
Assisted in the creation of a spread sheet for HR Management to monitor the Flexi quota of my colleagues.
Making sure all individuals’ data was protected/hidden from other colleagues, but visible to managers using
Microsoft Visual and Microsoft Excel
• Time To Hire
Spread sheet /
Police Officer &
PCSO
I created a spread sheet for Recruitment Assistants that could accurately provide HR management with
reliable up to date information relating to recruitment vacancies, using data validation, conditional
formatting, pivot tables and charts. I also created annual spread sheets containing data relating to Police
Officer and PCSO processes. I once saved the force around £500-£600 by extracting application data into
Microsoft Excel and using formulas accumulated the total word count per application which then allowed me
to calculate an average. I then filtered the totals in groups of 250 and identified candidates whose word count
was severely under the average and who were undeniably not going to be progressed. These candidates were
rejected prior to being marked by an external assessor for £5 per application.
• CARMS to ORIGIN Transfer of data contained in old system to new system consisting of employee annual leave and TOIL quota.
• COHORT Attach all confidential medical information of force employees onto the COHORT database.
• NCALT Learning new training packages to assist with my development.
• JobTrain
Configuration
Regular meetings with HR management and Analysts to provide key information on the requirements and
expectations of our new Recruitment System by creating process maps of all recruitment processes,
identifying colleagues data access permissions, creation of application forms, creation of new status changes
that coincide with our terminology, creating email templates, uploading every document used throughout all
recruitment processes. I was praised for my input and assistance throughout this project considering the level
of work was the equivalent of a manager.
• Special
Constabulary
Interactive Brochure
Creation of an interactive PDF guidance booklet using Microsoft Publisher for candidates interested in
applying for the role of Special Constable. My work was credited by the Chief Officer of the Special
Constabulary and is now used on all Special Constable vacancies and was used on various bus routes.
• Office of National
Statistics
Inform the Office of National Statistics on a monthly basis, how many external recruitment vacancies we
had between 2 specific dates.
