130 Completed Surveys
The Atlanta Running Meetup seeks to understand the interest level of restarting our running/walking groups. You can find us here on Meetup - https://www.meetup.com/running-294/
These are the results of our survey.

• Until the numbers are under control.
Currently, the case count is rising.
• When cases have significantly gone
down
• When I get a vaccination or they find a
treatment
• When infection rates have decreased
(rather than the current consistent
increases we are seeing).
• When there is an effective
treatment/vaccine or we reach levels
of infection similar to those in Iceland
or New Zealand.
• Either a vaccine for covid must be
available for highly effective
treatments must be available.
• I am ready now but think anythoing
over 5 to 10 people is too much
• I may never be safe enough, time will
tell but too soon to plan anything.
• It depends on the prevalence of
COVID-19 in the area. As of now, I
would not feel safe attending this
(although being outdoors is WAY
better than indoors).

• 7am for two reasons: the heat
and fewer people are out.
• I live in Marietta so weekends
are best for me and I'll be
walking, not running.
• I really would love to participate,
I just do not feel that it's the
responsible thing for me to do at
this time.
• Saturday or Sunday near Tucker
• I want to join Sundays when my
ACL replacement heals a little
more. It might not be until
September.
• YMCA
• Noonday Trail Woodstock

• Leaving the group, it will probably never
be safe again, especially with the current
president.
• Please speak with someone who has had
the scary experience of being hospitalized
for COVID. It is frightening. It is affecting
healthy young people not just high risk
people. We should do our part as a group
to keep our community safe and set an
example by not gathering
• After August I'll be interested in running
• Can we socialize outdoors? For example,
outside of Park Tavern at a safe distance.
• Run and socialize sometimes
• Pick up your own food and beverage and
sit outside on the grass distanced at ones
comfort level
• I would be willing to socialize from a
distance and would not sit at a table with
others.
• I would get a coffee, etc. and keep social
distance
• Allow people to order food and sit
outside on the grass in the park
• Don't know at this point.

9. Additional Comments (1 of 3)
• Cases are going up in Georgia again. Mask wearing is not enforced or required. I miss my running
group but it's not safe to run. It endangers those among us who are most vulnerable - minority
groups, African-Americans, the without healthcare, seniors and those with serious health issues.
• Comfortable eating outside only right now...
• Hope everybody is well.
• I am a public health professional and feel strongly like the population is being gaslit by the
administration. Please, please, please look at the data when making decisions like these. I miss
going out to meet people too, but case counts are rising. We are still in the thick of it and things
are getting worse because we're being told everything is fine -- and, understandably, it is
confusing. Please understand that CDC and NIH are basically being handcuffed and muffled by the
administration. But the data are out there. Check out Johns Hopkins for it, and NYT does do a
good job reporting on COVID 19, for the most part. If you do decide to go ahead (I have my low
comfort level but am also trying to figure out what a sustainable new normal looks like, so I
understand that), please do be careful. Require face masks. Limit attendance. Enforce that. I know
it sucks, but people's lives are on the line. Maybe not the runners', possibly, but this thing is
pretty contagious and dying from it is horrifying. It looks like asphyxiation and multiple organ
failure--for some people. And every life matters. Best of luck with your decision.
10. Additional Comments (2 of 3)
• I am concerned about the food part but a run with distance is fine.
• I am looking forward to running again and meeting new people. Although I am really out of shape.
• I am skeptical to attend if it gets too crowded, so I will be looking at number of people attending
the event before I can commit. But I wish well and safety to fellow runners.
• I appreciate you gauging interest, and I hope you find a way to do this as safely as possible for
those who are willing to accept the risks and participate. Knowing that I have to go into work and
my child has to go into daycare, I'm trying to minimize risk from other places, so I don't
unwittingly spread it to others who may be more vulnerable. I really would love to start
participating again (now that I'm no longer pregnant / my son is no longer an infant) if there is a
way to do this while minimizing risk. So I'll be watching to see how it goes!
• I can host Saturday runs on an ad hoc basis, but I am not sure that I can do it on a regular basis
• I love this group already.
• I would be willing to host occasional "random" runs (different days/times/locations) in contrast to
the regularly scheduled runs if the group is open to that.
11. Additional Comments (3 of 3)
• I was not able to attend any in person meetups before COVID-19 but was looking forward to it. I hope that if
you do restart you can do it safely. It’s not advisable to run in groups right now. It’s difficult to social distance
while running In a group and the heavy breathing doesn’t help. Running masks are not comfortable. I don’t
know the answer but I’m not comfortable with this right now. I know that people want to get back to normal
but that’s not yet possible. Thank you for the virtual runs.
• I will be happy to be a substitute host as needed.
• I would love to eventually help with organizing walks once I become acclimated with the group.
• I'm available to host on Monday, Saturday, or Sunday.
• I'm the training director for Fleet Feet Decatur, certified PT, running coach, group fitness.
• I’m also interested in helping out on saturdays and sundays as well but would love to lead Monday’s.
• Please consider the severity of COVID. The case numbers are rising again and now is not the time to be
taking chances. I don’t think it’s wise to trust people will wear masks and follow social distancing guidelines.
People's lives are at stake!
• Thanks Caroline
• Would love to assist lead at some point but with work and kids activities i can not commit.
