2. Tutees of the Quarter
We would like to recognize these students for all of their hard work!
Leydi Navarijo Pineda
Leydi’s capacity for reading, writing, and speaking in English
has improved tremendously this past quarter. She has gained
more and more confidence as the weeks went by, and she actively
seeks for more opportunities to be able to practice what she
has learned. For the first few weeks she struggled to pronounce
the letters of the alphabet and now she reads complete books
to anyone. She also greets people in the morning and asks
them about their week. We are proud to be part of her learning
experience and hope to see her again next year.
Andrew Guardado
Andrew is always the bright and shining face that we look forward
to seeing each and every Saturday morning. Without fail, we see
him riding in on his scooter with a big smile on his face as he
greets us with enthusiasm. Andrew has grown so much in Project
WILD for the past two years and we have been honored to witness
his growth. He has become one of the most hard-working and
enthusiastic tutees that we have. Andrew always tries so hard when
working on his curriculum; he is always the first to finish and the
most excited about reading and writing. We have loved watching
Andrew develop his grammar skills and are so proud of the
wonderful young man that we’ve seen him become in just these
past two years.
Angel Hernandez
Angel never fails to show up every Saturday morning and always
tries his best in curriculum. Even though he doesn’t like the
writing section, he continues to power through it. He’s not afraid
to tell you his opinion, but he is still considerate of people’s
feelings. Lastly, he loves to help whever he has the ability to.
Dear families of Project WILD,
This has been a wonderful Spring
Quarter for Project WILD!
We have had many super fun
activities with our Los Angeles
diversity theme. Our tutees have
been learning about cultural
backgrounds, building teamwork,
and getting artsy with crafts.
This quarter, we started a
common book program so that
each tutee would have his or her
own book to read each week.
Each level had their own book,
and curriculum revolved around
that book. The kids really enjoyed
getting to continue reading the
book each week, while we asked
them critical thinking questions
to keep them engaged and help
them learn. In addition, we
have continued to work hard on
improving our curriculum, new
sign out system, and lending
library.
Thank you for all of your support!
We really appreciate it, and we
look forward to more fun times
with you!
Sincerely,
Project WILD
Azucena Reyes
It is such a pleasure having Azucena with us every week. We love
seeing her smiling face. It always brightens our mornings! She is
such a hard worker, so dedicated, and we love that she even helps
other students with difficult topics. Azucena is one of the sweetest
tutees that we have at Arlington, always making crafts for the
tutors to show her appreciation of us, and now, we want to show
our appreciation for her! Congratulations on completing a year of
Project WILD, and best of luck in the future! We can’t wait to see
where you will go from here!
