Manager
• As a person who grew up under the
umbrella of the Canadian Military and then
becoming a member of the Military I
naturally was influenced by good Leaders.
So I may be a little prejudice towards
Leadership vs. Management.

put on a uniform and became a
subordinate to a very inept officer. I was
the platoon radio operator assigned to a
Lieutenant. He led himself and I into being
captured which taught me that not all
Leaders can Lead.

• A Manager is the person responsible for
planning and directing the work of a group
of individuals, monitoring their work, and
taking corrective action when necessary.
For many people, this is their first step into
a management career.

group of people towards the achievement
of a goal". A mnemonic for this definition
would be 3P's - Person, People and
Purpose as illustrated by the following
