Editor's Notes
Notes to accompany slide for PDRA conference day breakout session.
o 4 groups
o 7 participants per group
o 10 minutes per topic
o 10 minutes to determine top priorities for reporting back
Two participants from each group to change at the end of each topic.
1.Groups are being asked to identify specific training needs they have for their roles on the Soil Security Programme. These could include; techniques, lab skills etc. These themes will be recorded and presented to the funders as topics for training workshops.
2.A wider topic for discussion is the general issue of PDRA career development. Can participants identify training/learning and support that would enable them to develop their careers whilst on the SSP and in readiness for future and senior roles.
3.Impact both in terms of the funder’s agenda of ‘pathways to impact’ and impact in a university setting for the Research Excellence Framework should be considered here. What support do the PDRA’s need from both the SSP co-ordination team and their home institutes?
4.Can research synergies be identified by the PDRA’s? How can collaboration across projects be fostered and supported. Also to start considering joint, collaborative outputs.
