Editor's Notes
Thank you Julian….I hope you will find many of today’s pitches both interesting and relevant towards moving your project forward. However, we have another objective and that is to introduce you to a diverse range of businesses. And to help you to think creatively about working with people that are not traditionally part of your sector. Have you considered working with a digital media company? Have you thought about partnering with a multi-national to jointly promote your solution? And are you tapping in to our research community’s wealth of intellectual assets? The variety of pitches today will hopefully inspire you. Over the last two weeks, we received 39 requests to pitch for 24 allocations available, and there were many good companies and ideas. For those who offered to present but didn’t get an allocation, we will put your presentations on our website along with the pitches that you’ll see today.
There are several ways we will be helping you to connect: Firstly, we have a Linked-in group that you are welcome to join.Secondly, we will be distributing all attendee’s contact details – just the name, company, and email address – after the event to you all so you can follow-up. If you don’t want to be included in the list, let us know by end of today. And lastly, next week the presentations will be available on the Innovate NSW – Collaborative Solutions page.
There are a few key things for the Tech Developers to keep in mind for your solutions:#1) What is the innovation? How is your solution new-to-market and innovative beyond current offerings? #2) Where is the market? Who are the second and third customers? How big is the market? #3) How are you financing the development? How much are you ready to invest in this product? Remember, this is only an incentive grant that will cover up to 25% of your costs or $100,000, whichever lower.
And some things for potential Pilot Organisations to consider:#1) What are the business challenges you need help with? And why are current market solutions not easily addressing your needs? #2) What are you willing to commit to a pilot? Will you only be providing feedback or will you be willing to offset some of the development costs? #3) How will you measure success? What will make you more likely to adopt the solution after the trial?
And finally for those pitching this morning. Remember that you have 4 minutes for your slides. We will time you and give you a reminder at 3 ½ minutes, and then ring again at 4. Also, as we are recording this, please speak in to the microphone.Thank you – and now for our first pitch from Jennifer Wilson at the Project Factory.
