This document discusses how software defined networking (SDN) and network functions virtualization (NFV) will impact Colt's operations support systems (OSS) and business support systems (BSS). SDN/NFV promises more flexible and agile services for customers but current OSS/BSS are not designed for this level of flexibility. Colt's approach is to have their OSS focus on products, services, and customers while using domain-based orchestration to automate network provisioning and assurance across physical, virtual, and software defined infrastructure domains enabled by SDN/NFV. This choreography of domains will allow Colt to deliver on the promises of SDN/NFV in a manageable way for

12. Summary
• SDN/NFV promises flexibility and agility for our customers
• OSS/BSS in most telco’s are not flexible or agile enough
• OSS/BSS normally struggle with the complexity of layered
networks/services
• The usual solution of managing assets and simple service data wont
work with SDN/NFV
• Colt’s approach is to let the OSS focus on products and services
and force all logic for provisioning and assurance into the domain
