Editor's Notes
Thank you for joining Connectria’s on-demand presentation, “Introducing Connectria’s IBM AIX Cloud Hosting”
Throughout this presentation, we will provide an overview of Connectria’s Hosting, and our offer and experience with IBM technologies. Next we’ll introduce Connectria’s IBM AIX Cloud Hosting along with its benefits, configuration and pricing. Finally, we’ll highlight how to engage with Connectria for those interesting in moving toward an IBM AIX Cloud Hosting option or simply interested in learning more.
So let’s begin with a brief overview of Connectria.Connectria was founded in 1996 and gained its entry into the market through hosting complex technologies and environments. For example, our first customer was the world’s largest bank, Deutsche Bank. At a time before many other hosting companies had yet to be founded, Connectria began hosting replicated database environments across mixed server and operating system platforms with complex firewalls and necessary security in place capable of withstanding FDIC audit. This is unlike other hosting companies that began simply renting space in a rack. Over the years, Connectria built upon its success of hosting these types of complex, customized environments largely through word of mouth. Today Connectria is a global managed hosting company with dedicated server, cloud hosting and customized hosting services. We have three (3) established data center locations, two (2) in St. Louis, Missouri which is where we’re headquartered, and one (1) in Philadelphia, PA. We’ve also secured a fourth US-based data center in Dallas, TX, which will be opening in the coming months. We’re financially sound and profitable since we’ve been in business. And as a private company our allegiance is only to our customers and partners. We’ve provided hosting services to over 1,000 customers in over 30 countries, with about 20% of our customers located outside of North America. We address customers of all vertical markets and have a healthy mix of medium to large enterprise customers as well as SMB.We do believe that Connectria stands out among the crowd of hosting companies as having strong hosting expertise across a wide set of technologies and platforms, including IBM.Key growth markets for Connectria include IBM i and AIX dedicated and cloud hosting, Remote Administration Services, Citrix Hosting, SaaS hosting and compliance hosting, such as HIPAA.
Connectria has a long history and experience hosting IBM technologies. As an IBM Business Partner and 3 time IBM Beacon Award Winner, Connectria provides a variety of hosting services for IBM AIX (pSeries), DB2, IBM i (iSeries - AS/400), XWork Server, Lotus Notes / Domino and WebSphere, among others. In particular, Connectria has developed and continues to grow a strong expertise with the POWER Systems running AS/400 and AIX. Customers around the globe, including IBM, recognize Connectria’s deep understanding and knowledge for maintaining and managing IBM POWER SYSTEMS environments.
In addition to the wide range of IBM technologies we host, Connectria provides several options around our IBM services. For those customers who want to run their applications in an IBM environment, however do not either have nor wish to use their own servers, Connectria provides a hosted solution on our IBM equipment located within our data centers. For a fixed monthly fee, customers run their applications housed in our data centers on our IBM servers, while Connectria provides managed services for their environment according to their needs. We also provide an option where customers may locate their IBM servers within our data center for Connectria to host and manage as well. Finally, Connectria offers remote administration and monitoring services for customers who want to retain servers within their facilities, however either do not have the staff or they want to relieve their staff of the administrative function. Our remote administration and monitoring provide a practical entry point into Connectria’s services at a very affordable price point, starting as low as $895/month.
There are many reasons why IBM customers turn to Connectria for hosting and managing their environment:Some come to us as a result of a major downtime event. A significant outage may have occurred, and they realize they need 24/7 monitoring of their environment but don’t have the staff or capabilities to do so.Some are already using a hosting provider and are not satisfied with their level of service. They may have outsourced some or all IBM operating functions to their current service provider however are experiencing slow, unresponsive support, high costs or both.Often a sale, purchase or consolidation of a company, subsidiary, division or business unit occurs. They may have either inherited an unfamiliar IBM Power Systems platform running AS/400 and/or AIX, or they’ve lost the resources to managed them.A system administrator(s) leaves for whatever reason, and they no longer have the staff to manage their IBM server. Some can no longer invest capital or operating resources into their IBM environment. Outsourcing server resources, data center space and systems administration can be done more efficiently and cost-effectively. These services may also be bundled and shifted from their capital budget to their operating budget.
Connectria offers an array of managed hosting services, whether dedicated server, cloud or hybrid solutions. We have a strong cloud offer that includes public, private and hybrid clouds, as well as on-demand cloud storage. Our range of services include packaged managed plans as well as custom, a la carte options. And we also offer flexible service license agreements to meet unique requirements of our customers. Examples of managed services include server monitoring, o/s updates, a full range of security services and data backups.
Connectria is proud of its track record in supporting a variety of IBM customers with superior managed hosting services. Here are a few of our customers that represent a wide range of size and services, each with a specific solution that meet their specific requirements.
In addition to Connectria’s extensive managed hosting for the IBM AIX, now customers can run their applications in the Cloud. Introducing Connectria’s IBM AIX Cloud. It’s everything you’d expect in a cloud including rapid provisioning for both development and production environments, high reliability, scalability, flexibility and affordable pricing. Customers of Connectria’s IBM AIX Cloud Hosting Solutions will be able to purchase the IBM AIX capacity and support they need, when they need it, for as long as they need it – all backed by Connectria’s world-class 24/7 IBM AIX administration and support.
Connectria’s IBM AIX Cloud Hosting leverages the power and resiliency of the IBM POWER7 and VIOS, and is architected to deliver a flexible, low cost solution. Starting as low as $745/month, Connectria’s IBM AIX Cloud Hosting solutions are an excellent alternative to purchasing an IBM AIX System and running it yourself. For each Virtual Machine, customers can add processor, memory or disk capacity as needed, as well as scale from as little as 1/10 of a core and a 3 GHz processor. In addition to the IBM AIX capacity that customers purchase, they will also purchase Connectria’s world-renowned 24/7 IBM AIX administration and support to ensure their IBM AIX systems are secure, reliable, and running at peak performance.Connectria’s IBM AIX Cloud Hosting can support IBM AIX 6.1 and 7.1 environments, however for older operating system versions, Connectria can provide LPAR AIX Hosting solutions which will provide many of the same benefits of the AIX Cloud.
Connectria Cloud For IBM AIX is a low cost option, with IBM AIX Virtual Machines running on a single IBM AIX POWER7 System. You can add processor, memory or disk capacity to any IBM AIX Virtual Machine as needed. With pricing starting as low as $745 Per Month with Full Managed Services, Connectria’s IBM AIX Silver Cloud is an attractive option.Connectria’s IBM AIX Cloud Hosting also delivers a range of flexible contract options, which includes month-to-month contracts as well as discounted 1-year, 2-year and 3-yearagreements.
For those considering a hosted solution for their IBM AIX environment, whether dedicated server or Cloud, we believe Connectria should merit strong consideration:As an IBM Business Partner with over 10 years of IBM AIX managed hosting experience, the IBM AIX is a strategic platform for Connectria in which we have strong expertise and ongoing commitment.Connectria is a genuine expert in hosting complex, technology environments. For instance, recently Connectria’s data centers have successfully undergone SSAE 16 Type II audit. We’ll help you architect the right hosted IBM AIX solution for you, according to your business requirements. We have strong technical expertise and we engage the right people throughout engagement, implementation and support. We always do what’s right by our customers. In fact, recent Connectria customer surveys implemented by an independent party revealed 100% customer satisfaction. This mentality to always do right by our customers and treating people with courtesy, respect and dignity permeates Connectria… and our customers tell us it shows. We’ve even implemented a No Jerks Allowed policy within Connectria as a constant reminder to ensure we’re an organization of integrity, courtesy and mutual respect.
