2. Inspiration
• Below you will find the image which had inspired me to create the background
of my title card. This image which I have found on google.com/images
attracted me due to the contrast between the black and red which is almost
drips of blood on the red. Having such a bright red colour automatically
screams out horror to me as it is really exposed making the colour red look
extremely scary. Next I will be showing the progress of my attempt into
creating a similar background image, however not being an expert in using
Photoshop and Fireworks I am not fully sure I am going to create the exact
same thing.
3. I then started to create the black edges on
it so that I have the same gradient affect
as my inspired image.
So, the main colour is red right? I have
decided to draw simple red lines on
Adobe Fireworks. This will help me to
further carry on with adding colour and
edges.
Next comes the smoothing of the harsh
edges. OH NO! my worst nightmare of
using this software. This was extremely
hard as I was not aware of the right tools
to use. Therefore it was very time
consuming doing this.
I then used an airbrush tool which has a
much more softer finish in order to help
me gain the gradient affect however, was
not able to achieve much doing this.
I then decided to colour in the rest of the
circle so that I would have the base of my
title card. However when doing this I
intentionally left some white spaces so
that I could later fill in with shades of
black.
This is when I added a black background
on a different Image Layer so that it fills in
all the black spaces.
4. I then came across a tool called ‘Burn’
which allowed me to darken the red up
to give me the same effect of the blood
dripping, however I was doing it much
more thicker.
I then decided to add more red which
helped me to have more colour to burn.
However whilst in the progress of doing
this I completely forgot about the black
edges.
Being fed up with Fireworks and the
process of creating smooth gradient
edges, I went on to Adobe Photoshop
which has a tool that automatically
creates the gradient affect. So I created
the corners one by one.
Second corner… Third corner
And the Fourth! However here I started to
create a gradient affect on the margins of
the sides as well so that the circle in the
middle is much more tighter and smaller.
5. Initially I was going for a bright red in the
middle but previously it was quite dull, so
at this stage I decided to brighten up the
red by exposing it and contrasting the
colours.
Here were the last few touches of
‘Burning’ the image as I was not fully
satisfied with my previous outcome so
here I was doing the final little bits to
make it look perfect to my needs.

6. FINAL OUTCOMEFINAL OUTCOME
Considering that it took me approximately 2 and a half hours to create this title card I
believe that It came out of a good quality. In addition it also met my expectations of how
it was roughly going to turn out. Taking into consideration that I HATED the programmes
and I did not have a good understanding of how to use them and the various different
tools it had, it was a very difficult progress for me.
