In this presentation, how one of the biggest mobile manufacturing company that is Nokia fall down to the ground is been explained.
4 major reasons are there in the presentation, beautifully presented and explanation is in the notes section, and a short description about when Nokia is coming back.
2. Nokia’s Comeback…
• End to 30 months contract with
Microsoft.
• Nokia’s ex-employees made a company
called HMD Global, which are reviving
back Nokia.
• Rumour Nokia would be launching 2
phones this year at techshow MWC 2017.
When Microsoft bought nokia they entered into a contract that for next 30 months that nokia can not sell the phones wearing its name… that’s why we started seeing Microsofts name on the phones.
Mobile World Congress…
Its been said that nokia was having the tablet technology way before apples ipad…. But they didn’t worked on it. This led to shift of consumer from nokia to other companies as people always want something different, something new to try…
Now as we know nokia was lacking innovation….. So to make there OS and phones better. Nokia made two teams in the company one was given the task of improving the existing OS and other of Making a new OS. So to impress the top level both team started competing with each other. Due to this their was no good software or could say that no proper outcome was there. But nokia still used those bad software.
The New OS and the Old OS called Symbian were bad, as they were lacking consumer friendliness. so this made consumers automatically shifted towards other brands.
Apple and Android brought there smartphones into the market with full touch screens, Nokia decided to stay on there old designs of phone.
This full touch screen was an innovation for customers so they moved towards apple and android leaving behind the same old designs of nokia. This was an opportunity that nokia missed as if they would have brought a smartphone they would have regained there old customers back. And when they did came with a smartphone, it was too late.
Nokia got an opportunity from Qualcom also as they offered to work with them but Nokia took 8-9 months to respond to that, until then the opportunity was gone.
This took away a lot of the market of nokia as people were needing apps and nokia was not able to give it to them. So people shifted towards ios and android.
