Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC • Provides secure, resizable compute capacity in the cloud. • Rent virtual computers on which to run their own computer applications. • Web service through which a user can boot an Amazon Machine Image (AMI) to configure a virtual machine, “Instance”. • Control over the geo location of instances that allows for latency optimization.

Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) AMI & Instances • Amazon Machine Image (AMI) is a template for software configuration (Operating System, Application Server, and Applications) • Instance is a AMI running on virtual servers in the cloud • Each instance type offers different compute and memory facilities

Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) Instance Types • General Purpose - balance of compute, memory and networking resources • Compute Optimized - deal for compute bound applications that benefit from high performance processors. • Memory Optimized - designed to deliver fast performance for workloads that process large data sets in memory. • Accelerated Computing - hardware accelerators, or co-processors, to perform functions, such as floating point number calculations, graphics processing, or data pattern matching, more efficiently. NVIDIA Tesla V100 GPUs each pairing 5,120 CUDA Cores and 640 Tensor Cores • Storage Optimized - designed for workloads that require high, sequential read and write access to very large data sets on local storage.

Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) Storage Amazon EC2 provides three type of storage option • Amazon EBS - Amazon EBS provides durable, block-level storage volumes that you can attach to a running instance • Amazon S3 - provides access to reliable and inexpensive data storage infrastructure. • Instance Storage - An instance store provides temporary block-level storage for your instance. • Amazon EFS - provides scalable file storage for use with Amazon EC2.
