of EOSC and in feeding to the Governance structure
• Under the auspices of the Executive Board (suggest, monitor, review, sign off)
• In four broad categories:
• Stakeholder engagement & participatory activities
• Organisation of the EB Working Groups
• Studies (biz model, RoP, legal framework, etc.)
• MKT, comms, events & additional support to the Governance
• The community will be invited to make use of it
• Currently in the design phase

11. Portal Overview
The EOSC Portal offers European researchers and professionals in science, technology,
the humanities and social sciences an entry point to a virtual environment with open
and seamless services for storage, management, analysis and re-use of research data,
across borders and scientific disciplines from existing scientific data infrastructures,
currently dispersed across disciplines and the EU Member States.

12. EOSC in Practice: WAVEFIER
12
• A single GW detector typically produce data with a rate
of 7-8 Tb per day with a flux of 40Mb/s (lots of Data)
• Most of the Data are essentially background noise
• Data has to be analyzed in a fast and efficient way to
increase the detection confidence and to obtain
information interesting for researchers
• Machine Learning (ML) techniques could be used to
classify either signals or images.
• With the new generation of detectors, the rate of
detection of GW signals will significantly increase
• Test on academic and research community GARR public
cluster
So Why WAVEFIER?
it would be extremely useful to have an online automatic
identification and classification of GW signals and their
direct database inclusion.

What do I want to do?
I need
Software architecture
Libraries
Framework
Infrastructures:
CPU
GPU
Storage
Network
…
I can search in the EOSC
catalogue in Data Category
Wavefier can be useful for my
purpose
PLAN-E Plenary Rome 15 16 April 2019
14. EOSC in Practice: WAVEFIER
14
Wavefier can be useful for my purpose
Download what I need (Software, Library, ..)
Ask for a services (infrastructure, CPU, ..)
Adapt Wavefier for my needs:
The architecture skeleton is perfect
I have to develop and add new features
I’ll plug my ML algorithm
Integration and deploy
my application
PLAN-E Plenary Rome 15 16 April 2019
15. EOSC in Practice: WAVEFIER
15
I am part of Wavefier team and my APP could be
useful for other areas of research:
Big data traffic analysis
Object recognition analysed by ML algorithms
Big data analysis in general
I could publish in the EOSC catalogue in the Big Data
category
I could adapt my APP ready for other researchers
PLAN-E Plenary Rome 15 16 April 2019
16. The EOSCsecretariat.eu initiative will support
implementation of the EOSC
Whether a researcher or a provider, let’s start fuelling
the dialogue!

Editor's Notes
OUR KEY PRIORITY FROM ALL PARTS OF THE GOVERNANCE IS TO ENSURE THE WORKING GROUPS ACTIVITIES OUTPUTS – WE WANT YOU TO PARTICIPATE IN THE DESIGN OF EOSC.
Top Arrow: Publish a calendar of webinars – top down – informing BUT the webinars are also a 2 way process – opportunity to ask questions.
Blog posts on the EOSC portal and eosc secretariat
NOT just the formal stakeholder forum.
Bottom arrow: launch in May the “liaison” activities. – interactive areas on the website. Sign up and provide feedback on the working groups. Answer any questions. Questions will feed FAQ sections on the website.
There will also be the opportunity to feed into surveys and consultations which will be customized for the 5 sets of stakeholders listed in the previous slide. The feedback and engagement activities will differ based on the stakeholder groups.
Co-ordination workshops will also be organized – the first is happening with the national initiatives.
Engaging with the Stakeholders community & coordination with related initiatives” means….as you can see these are all led by different organisations – striving for a community led EOSC
ESFRIs…
- Funding for stakeholders and experts to organise activities (public consultations, targeted consultations, surveys, focus groups, events, etc.) that will ensure the involvement of the entire community in the stakeholders forum
• Facilitation of involvement in the relevant EOSC working groups
• Collection of input for the studies on rules of participation, business models, and legal organisation
E-infrastructures
Coordination of projects’ input related to EOSC (for EOSC related initiatives)
• Consultation on EOSC governance through stakeholder forum and dedicated workshops
International initiatives
Consultation activities in order to bring in a global perspective to EOSC
• Liaison with non-EU countries in policy and technical developments compatible with EOSC through dedicated workshops
• Support to multilateral and global initiatives on FAIR research data and clouds and collect input for inclusion into EOSC discussions
Identifying further topics for governance
Sharing stakeholder contacts
Putting people players in contact with relevant initiatives & projects
Promoting participation in all initiatives
Participating in the co-creation processes
