2. Introduction
 A social worker and community advocate, Emily
Hershenson supports a number of charitable causes.
Additionally, Emily Hershenson supports Women for
Women International, which has a mission of helping
marginalized women in areas experiencing war and
other conflict.
On April 20, 2015, Women for Women International
shared its experiences in aiding women refugees in
Syria. In partnership with the Women’s Empowerment
Organization, the group established an ongoing
business training program at the Kawergosk Refugee
Camp. The program aims to give women an identity
and purpose through empowerment and business
courses.

International
 To ensure each person participating benefits from
the resources and tools, Women for Women
International requires camp refugees to complete
psycho-social counseling in addition to vocational
skills classes. Also available to women are
curricula on advocacy.
Some participants of the program have already
founded their own businesses, among them a
wedding shop that is led by four women. The
organization intends to expand the initiative to
host communities and other refugee camps in the
future to give displaced women an opportunity to
excel in their careers and personal lives.
