2. 5 Ways of Working
In recent years there has been a huge change in the
work place and the type of environment employees
want to work in, and this is in the large part driven by
technology. Offices are becoming furnished more
like a home than a workplace. People want versatile
space to enable them to work alone or together in
groups. There are so many options to consider;
acoustic pods for meetings, soft seating, formal
conference tables, work benches, and even lounge
rooms. Most workers now have a laptop and/or
tablet and can move freely around and work
wirelessly in different spaces.
3. The Cell
The first is the Cell. This
is designed for people
who need a quiet
atmosphere to carry out
tasks without disruption or
social interaction. This is
ideal for people who need
to make confidential calls
or have high focus tasks
to carry out.
4. The Lounge
The Lounge style
workspace is another
option this is for casual
social interaction and
enables you to take a
step back from work and
have informal
discussions. This is the
perfect option for casual
idea sharing or
spontaneous ad-hoc
meetings. Examples of
this type of area would be
café areas with soft
seating.
5. The Base
The Base is another
work space, this could
be where you go back to
do everything else. It’s
the hub of your
workspace. It could be
where you go to write an
email or to make a call
or recharge your laptop.
Examples of this are
desks in an open plan
office.
6. The Workshop
The Workshop is a place
where you can work with
project team mates. It can
be used for project
meetings, workshops and
internal meetings. It
should have a more
relaxed environment. Soft
seating and whiteboards
are ideal where you can
share your ideas and jot
them down.
7. The Stage
The Stage is an area for
formal meetings and
presentations so should
have a conference table
and possibly have video-
or tele presence
equipment. This is often
used for external meetings
and will require a
professional look as could
determine how you come
across to external
contacts.
