The Chesapeake Arts Center (CAC) is a 58,000 sq. ft. multi-discipline arts facility
located in Northern Anne Arundel County, just inside the Baltimore beltway. Our
facility houses an 752-seat Hammonds Lane Theatre, a 120-seat Studio 194 Theatre,
gallery space, ceramics lab, dance studios, music room, scene-shop and classrooms.

General Information
If a class or workshop is canceled, students will be notified at least three business days
prior to the first scheduled class or workshop. If you do not hear from the CAC, your class will be
running as scheduled. The CAC reserves the right to make changes in programs, schedules, and
instructors, and to cancel classes due to low enrollment. The CAC reserves the right to cancel or refuse
the registration of a student in a class or workshop with no refund, if participation by the student is
deemed disruptive or interferes with the learning atmosphere and enjoyment of the class/workshop.
Class Refund Policy
A $12.50 non-refundable processing fee is included in each class tuition. 100% of tuition (less the
processing fee) will be refunded if requested at least one week prior to the class/workshop; 75% of
tuition (less the processing fee) will be refunded if requested after the first class; 50% of tuition (less
the processing fee) will be refunded if requested after the second class; no refunds will be made if
requested after the third class. This does not apply to one-time workshops.

No Dance classes: Tuesday - Saturday, Oct 21 - 25 / Nov 25 - 29
The Chesapeake Arts Center classes follow the Anne Arundel County Public Schools emergency
closings protocols. For the safety of our students and parents, classes are cancelled
when AACPS closes due to inclement weather. For the most current information about
closings go to the AACPS website, www.aacps.org, (where the latest news will be
posted at the top of the screen) or call the snow phone at 410-222-5110 or 1-800-893-7080. When
possible, the CAC will post info regarding cancellations on the CAC website and Facebook page.
Tuition Assistance Program
The Chesapeake Arts Center is committed to making exceptional arts education oppurtunities
accessible and affordable for our citizens. Thanks to support from Anne Arundel Community Development
Services, 25% to 75% of tuition assistance is available for qualifying residents in Anne Arundel County.
Priority is given to applicants residing in Brooklyn Park, Glen Burnie, Severn, and surrounding
communities (especially 21225, 21060, 21061, 21144, and the AA County portion of 21226). For more
information and qualification requirements, contact the CAC Main Office at 410-636-6597 or download an
application online.

Learn the basics of wheel-thrown pottery in a studio setting. Use stoneware clay and electric wheels to practice centering and
forming basic shapes such as bowls, cylinders and plates. Learn the properties of clay, terminology and decorative glazing

Expressive Movement - THA 506a, THA 506b Ages: 7 - 12
Expressive Movement is a class for children who are interested in dancing, but might not grasp traditional dance styles
such as ballet or jazz. This class will give children the opportunity to express themselves non-verbally, through dance,
movement, and art. The instructor will meet the needs of the children in the present moment while encouraging their cre-
ativity and self-expression. This class is appropriate for, but not limited to, those with attention deficit disorders, poor social
skills, behavioral issues, and low self-esteem. *No class Oct 13 and Nov 24

Exploring Paint Media - ART 213 Ages: 13 - 18
Students will explore the wide range of painting media options including traditional (oil, acrylic, & watercolor) and beyond
(spray, household, and industrial) for the benefit of gaining new knowledge to develop their own style and concepts. This
course will emphasize the importance of knowing the characteristics, limitations, and safety issues when using different
types of paint media. This course will also provide students with strategies for future explorations of unknown media.

Beginner Tapestry Weaving - ART 215 Ages: 13 - Adult
Students will learn beginning techniques of weft-faced tapestry weaving. We will go over setting up a frame loom, calculating
warp and weft needs, as well as three basic weaving techniques. We will also learn best practices for end finishing and display.
We will learn about dyeing wool and creating custom colors. There is emphasis on developing a personal aesthetic of imagery,
color, and pattern.

Studies in Oil Paint - ART 214 Ages: 15 - Adult
This class is all about oil paint and using it to express what you observe. Experience
in drawing or painting is helpful, but not necessary. We will aim to paint a
study each class. A study is not necessarily a finished painting but a wonderful (less
pressured) learning tool. You will learn about color mixing, observation, applying
paint, creating form, making edges, depicting space and conveying the light. Basic

Ever been told you have a great voice? From audio books and cartoons to documentaries, commercials, and more, this class
will introduce you to the growing field of voice over. Learn what the pros look for, how to prepare, and where to find work in
your area! We’ll discuss industry pros and cons and play samples from working voice professionals. In addition, you’ll have
an opportunity to record a short professional script under the direction of our teacher. This class is lots of fun, realistic, and
a great first step for anyone interested in the voice over field.

Increase flexibility, strength and well-being. Yoga is a discipline that promotes health

Learn the unique traditional art form used by the old Screen Painter Masters and the non-traditional techniques of painting
window screens. Learn methods used by Fine Artists including fundamental drawing, color mixing, highlights, shadows,
and perspective while creating a beautiful personalized project which provides privacy and a personal touch to your home’s
exterior!

Fees ~ A $12.50 non-refundable processing fee is included in each class tuition.100% of tuition (less the processing fee) will be refunded if requested at
least 1 week prior to the class/workshop; 75% of tuition (less the processing fee) will be refunded if requested after the first class; 50% of tuition (less the
processing fee) will be refunded if requested after the second class; no refunds will be made if requested after the third class. This does not apply to one-
time workshops.
Cancellations ~ If a class or workshop is cancelled, students will be notified at least 3 business days prior to the first scheduled class or workshop. If you do
not hear from CAC, your class will be running as scheduled. CAC reserves the right to make changes in programs, schedules, and instructors, and to cancel
classes due to low enrollment.
Student Behavior Policy ~ CAC reserves the right to cancel or refuse the registration of a student in a class or workshop with no refund, if participation by
the student is deemed disruptive or interferes with the learning atmosphere and enjoyment of the class/workshop.
Photograph Release ~ I the undersigned ( ___ DO ) ( ___ DO NOT ) grant CAC the right to photograph me or my child during classes and performances,
and to use my or their image, photograph, silhouette and other reproductions of their physical likeness in connection with ongoing CAC publicity. I agree
that I will not assert or maintain against CAC their successors, assigns and licensees, any claim, action, suit or demand of any kind or nature whatsoever,
including but not limited to those grounded upon invasion of privacy, rights of publicity or other civil rights, or for any reason in connection with CAC’s

and completely turn over all rights to the still photographs to CAC.

The Chesapeake Arts Center (CAC) is a 58,000 sq. ft. multi-discipline arts facility located in Northern Anne Arundel County, just inside the Baltimore beltway. Our facility houses an 752-seat Hammonds Lane Theatre, a 120-seat Studio 194 Theatre, gallery space, ceramics lab, dance studios, music room, scene-shop and classrooms. Holidays and Inclement Weather Policy No classes September 1 (Labor Day) and November 27-30 (Thanksgiving Break) No Dance classes: Tuesday - Saturday, Oct 21 - 25 / Nov 25 - 29 The Chesapeake Arts Center classes follow the Anne Arundel County Public Schools emergency closings protocols. For the safety of our students and parents, classes are cancelled when AACPS closes due to inclement weather. For the most current information about closings go to the AACPS website, www.aacps.org, (where the latest news will be posted at the top of the screen) or call the snow phone at 410-222-5110 or 1-800-893-7080. When possible, the CAC will post info regarding cancellations on the CAC website and Facebook page. Tuition Assistance Program The Chesapeake Arts Center is committed to making exceptional arts education oppurtunities accessible and affordable for our citizens. Thanks to support from Anne Arundel Community Development Services, 25% to 75% of tuition assistance is available for qualifying residents in Anne Arundel County. Priority is given to applicants residing in Brooklyn Park, Glen Burnie, Severn, and surrounding communities (especially 21225, 21060, 21061, 21144, and the AA County portion of 21226). Use stoneware clay and electric wheels to practice centering and forming basic shapes such as bowls, cylinders and plates. Learn the properties of clay, terminology and decorative glazing techniques. *No class 11/26 Instructor: Joe Vitek Member Price: $240 Time: 12 sessions, Wed, 7:00 - 9:00pm Non-Member Price: $265 Dates: 9/17 - 12/10 TRY IT: Handbuilding Pottery - CER 704 Ages: 16 - Adult A fun, fast paced, hands-on course to quickly gain the technical knowledge to form interesting and decorative built pottery using pinching, coiling, slumping, and draping. Instructor: Kayleigh Porter Member Price: $125 Time: 6 sessions, Mon, 7:00 - 9:00pm Non-Member Price: $150 Dates: 10/13 - 11/17 Intermediate Pottery Wheel - CER 702 Ages: 16 - Adult Create larger, more-involved forms including: shaping lids for jars and containers, spouts for pitchers, and pulling and attaching handles. Learn decorative techniques, how to alter forms, slip applications, washes and wax resistant. They will learn a variety of surface decoration techniques, and demonstrations of complex forms will open students up to the possibilities of the potter’s wheel and encourage them to get creative. Clay terminology will be discussed as well as appropriate clay technique.
