As a Product Manager it’s my role to talk to customers and find out what can our software do to make your job easier. From these conversations we’ve found that it’s hard to create content the way customers want to consume it.
Speak to stat without reading/numbers
Companies have incredible new opportunities to reach and engage their customers. To know them in ways they never could know them before. To interact with them in ways that were never possible before.
Along with those new opportunities for companies come new expectations from customers. They are more demanding. They expect you to know who they are, to know their history, to recognize them in any channel, to make things easy for them. They expect you to be relevant at all times.
Landing pages, mobile apps, Facebook tabs, and more are great tools for engaging with customers but it’s overwhelming for any brand to manage consistently.
Some of this might sound familiar – in the past we’ve focused on making content creation easy and in doing so have built many best in class solutions, each focused on a different channel. We have 2,700 customers today building landing pages and facebook tabs with ExactTarget generating 1.1 billion impressions a year.
Now, we want to enable marketers with bigger visions seeking an integrated experience so we’re bringing together the easy to use interface of SocialPages with the web publishing capabilities of Landing Pages to make CloudPages.
Joe is a power user of our existing applications and was able to participate in our beta program to get a sneak peak at CloudPages
What does Web and Apps mean? To start, you can create landing pages, facebook tabs, and MobilePush pages.
Side story: A lot of our customers start by building content for one channel and as they see success with those campaigns end up embedding what they’ve built on other channels (i.e. facebook to web).
CP was designed so users with or without a technical background could design and configure their content.
Side story: One customer we have works as an agency and has both technical and non-technical team members, both of whom are excited for this. The non-technical marketers want to be able to make changes on the fly without going to the technical staff. The technical ones want a more streamlined experience for setting up their pages and getting to where they code.

How many of you care about mobile optimization?
Side story: we ran a 4 week beta program for CloudPages and all 9 of the organizations that participated said the ability to design for desktop vs. mobile devices was a huge win because so many of their customers are viewing content on mobile devices and it can be impossible to control in a homegrown solution.
Side story: We have a customer that works with restaurants and cafes throughout Germany and wants to create identical content that can then be shared across all of these locations.
