Faisal Anwar was born in a rural part of Bangladesh. He moved to the United States when he was only five, but still learned how to speak his native language of Bangla. One of the first things that Faisal noticed was how much space there was in America. He felt like the air was cleaner, and there was room to run. Faisal settled in quickly with his family and made many friends from around the country and the world. Around this time, Faisal felt the desire to help people, but he did not yet know that he wanted to become a physician. In high school he became a mediator and a peer counselor for other students. The next step in his evolution was becoming a volunteer at hospitals.
