Solution: one 8-way HDPE bundle Micro duct
Length: 140KM
Duration:11months
Max progress :25 km/month
After the excavation, a 7-way bundle micro duct
had been laid into the trench, and after the laying
of the micro duct, a 48 core micro cable had been
blowing into the micro duct. Because the total
diameter of the micro duct is less than 45mm, so
the excavation width is only 300mm.

INTORDUCTION
To cater the ever increasing demand for Bandwidth and to achieve a “high reliable core network”, Dialog decided to expand its Optical Fibre network.
Hence new fibre routes and nodes were identified according to the existing and predicted capacity requirements as well as the identified strategic potentials.
This decision drove Dialog for the option of releasing a Request for Proposal (RFP) to look for bidders who propose solutions for the requirement.
This section covers the technical requirements and expectations of the project.
General Scope
The scope of this document is to describe the Technical Requirements & Specifications that the Bidders shall fulfil with the aim to
provide a complete end to end solution for the implementation of Optical Fibre Network as a turnkey project.
TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS SPECIFICATION (TRS)
The TRS specifies the technical requirements to be fulfilled in order to implement a complete end-to-end solution
for the Optical Fibre Network.
Following will be key points for the bidders to adhere from the beginning of the project.
•This is an extension of Dialog’s existing Optical Fibre Network (OFN). Hence all the components and solutions proposed by bidders
will be assessed for the compatibility with the existing network and same will be treated as a must.
•The base of the cable network will be aerial and the solution should be designed in a manner that the cable implementation to be
aerial as much as possible. The scenario to choose the other options is described under the civil construction module.
•Dialog reserves the right to suggest the successful bidder/s to change and propose any of the network / project components described
under TRS. Bidders are expected to take this challenge from the beginning.
•Dialog will decide and change its priorities on implementation with respect to the fibre routes even while at the implementation
phase.

Proposal: ADSS is recommended for installation on existing electric pole, but the
existing electric pole and wire height should be considered.
Advantage Disadvantage
ADSS  ADSS cable has higher tensile strength. It is
applicable for long span. The overall thermal
expansion coefficient of ADSS is very low, so
the effect of temperature on ADSS sag is small.
 ADSS is made of non-metallic materials, can
be installed and maintained on live-line
situation. The feature is convenient and safe
for installation and maintenance.
 Anti-track material makes ADSS be able to be
used in strong electric fields.
 ADSS cable has good features, such as small
diameter, light weight, and small load affection
on poles or towers.
 Installed position is under existing electric cable,
the safety distance between cable and ground need
to be considered.
OPGW  Strong Physical feature, can support long span
installation (more than 250m).
 Suitable for new installation power
transmission system to save construction cost.
 Vibration caused by wind, hurricane, ice thickness,
 Unsteady operation caused by temperature,
possible thunder attack, short circuit.
 For existing power line system, the power supply
must be break off

Advantage Disadvantage
G.655  lower dispersion, and it need fewer
DCM
 (Before DCM is high cost, using G.655
save the cost of DCM. But now the DCM
price is lower down, and it is not a
significant advantage)
 Can not be used for 1310 nm laser.
 Significant non-linear effect (SPM, FWM),
not suitable for DWDM system(80*40G e.g)
 Higher Price

•Different steps: Duct & manhole
•Different installation methodology: laying, blowing, pulling
The distance between the manholes increases to around
1000m compare with 100m in the traditional PVC duct
solution after the popularize of HDPE pipe and cable blowing
technique. The cost of manhole reduces.
Expansion Process
•No expansion capacity for D.B.
•Cable blowing technique makes
the maintenance and upgrade
more rapidly
Micro pipes can be blowing into
the HDPE pipe to use the duct
system more adequately

 Reduce the initial investment, and
easy for expansion.
 Easy to upgrade the fiber cable type.
 Fully utilize the existing duct
resource
 Easy for branching.
 Reduce manhole / handhole
quantities.
 High requirement for the protection in
handhole and manhole.

  • 9. HUAWEI TECHNOLOGIES CO., LTD. Huawei Confidential Page 9 INTORDUCTION To cater the ever increasing demand for Bandwidth and to achieve a “high reliable core network”, Dialog decided to expand its Optical Fibre network. General Scope The scope of this document is to describe the Technical Requirements & Specifications that the Bidders shall fulfil with the aim to provide a complete end to end solution for the implementation of Optical Fibre Network as a turnkey project. TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS SPECIFICATION (TRS) The TRS specifies the technical requirements to be fulfilled in order to implement a complete end-to-end solution for the Optical Fibre Network. Following will be key points for the bidders to adhere from the beginning of the project. •This is an extension of Dialog’s existing Optical Fibre Network (OFN). Hence all the components and solutions proposed by bidders will be assessed for the compatibility with the existing network and same will be treated as a must. •The base of the cable network will be aerial and the solution should be designed in a manner that the cable implementation to be aerial as much as possible. The scenario to choose the other options is described under the civil construction module. •Dialog reserves the right to suggest the successful bidder/s to change and propose any of the network / project components described under TRS. Bidders are expected to take this challenge from the beginning. •Dialog will decide and change its priorities on implementation with respect to the fibre routes even while at the implementation phase.

  • 60. HUAWEI TECHNOLOGIES CO., LTD. Huawei Confidential Comparison between OPGW and ADSS Page 60 Proposal: ADSS is recommended for installation on existing electric pole, but the existing electric pole and wire height should be considered. Advantage Disadvantage ADSS  ADSS cable has higher tensile strength. It is applicable for long span. The overall thermal expansion coefficient of ADSS is very low, so the effect of temperature on ADSS sag is small.  ADSS is made of non-metallic materials, can be installed and maintained on live-line situation. The feature is convenient and safe for installation and maintenance.  Anti-track material makes ADSS be able to be used in strong electric fields.  ADSS cable has good features, such as small diameter, light weight, and small load affection on poles or towers.  Installed position is under existing electric cable, the safety distance between cable and ground need to be considered. OPGW  Strong Physical feature, can support long span installation (more than 250m).  Suitable for new installation power transmission system to save construction cost.  Vibration caused by wind, hurricane, ice thickness,  Unsteady operation caused by temperature, possible thunder attack, short circuit.  For existing power line system, the power supply must be break off
