  2. 2. Find Your Tribe<br />You are a Rah! I feel that this is not me and the majority of what it says doesn't link back to myself. I will take this in account when targeting my audience but I will be looking at other target audiences for my magazine.<br />
  3. 3. Find Your Tribe continued...<br />What is a ‘rah’?<br />The audience that is represented for me on the previous slide, is shown to be a ‘individual’ class of people who enjoy parties and have lots of money to spend on various things for leisure purposes and to have fun doing a variety of different activities. This certain audience that is targeted is the group of society that I am going to focus my music magazine on, this would mean that I need to feature things in the magazine that appeal to this ‘individual’ audience. <br />Types of features<br /><ul><li>An item that could feature could be a lot of information about gigs and festivals, this is so that the love of partying that the ‘Rahs’ have is intended for.
  4. 4. There could also be information on places to go for a good night out or for a weekend with a group of friends, this could include gigs and festivals as this is usually done with a group of friends.
  5. 5. The cars that are advertised could be ‘4 x 4’s’ as this is what is said to be interesting towards the ‘Rahs’, this will satisfy another part of their lifestyle.
  6. 6. I could base my magazine on the ‘Indie’ genre of music as my tribe is very individual and unique.</li></li></ul><li>Audience Questionnaire and Analysis<br />
  7. 7. <ul><li> Question one, ‘how much would you spend on a magazine?’, £3 was the most common response, this was in the middle of the range from £1 to £5+. This shows me that my audience wouldn’t mind paying an agreeable amount for the magazine. </li></li></ul><li><ul><li>Question two, ‘what would make you buy a magazine if you saw it on a shelf?’, the most common answers were, ‘CD on the cover’ and ‘a band you like’, this shows me that I need to advertise an album by placing an image of an album cover and established artists on the front of the magazine. </li></li></ul><li><ul><li>Question three ‘do you like watching bands live?’, the most common response was yes, this shows me that in my magazine I need to put covers of the latest gigs and festivals, reviews of these festivals and maybe a couple of competitions to win tickets to these gigs and festivals. As the majority said yes I will definitely be putting something about the festival in my magazine.</li></li></ul><li><ul><li>Question four ‘How do you listen to music?’, the most popular answer was ‘by yourself’, but it was fairly even between them, these results have shown me that I need to advertise electronic devices that play music, this is because, this is how people listen to music at home and while travelling. This relates back to my ‘find your tribe’ as I am a ‘rah’ this is how individuals listen to music by yourself and with friends. </li></li></ul><li><ul><li>Question five, ‘what is your favourite music genre?’, the highest mark here was on the ‘Indie’ genre, this shows that this would be a good genre to focus as the main theme in my magazine. </li></li></ul><li><ul><li>Question 6, ‘how do you access music’, the most popular was by purchasing a CD. This shows me that I could try advertising on an album with special features about it inside the magazine. legal downloading came second, this shows me that I need to advertise sites and services like iTunes and other legal downloading music sites and services, I could also include competitions or a code which offers discounts on iTunes, and also the iTunes festival could be covered. </li></li></ul><li>Question 7, ‘At a festival would you go for...’ just strengthens the fact that I need to show information on gigs and festivals as most people would stay at a festival for the duration of the opening time, rather just for a day. <br />
  8. 8. Finally question eight, ‘which music TV channel do you prefer?’, the highest was MTV, this strengthens the fact that I need to advertise MTV and other well known music channels on TV.<br />
  9. 9. Conclusion<br /><ul><li>I used my audience research to find a suitable way to appeal my target audience and to attract them into buying my magazine.
  10. 10. From the questionnaire I have found out that most of the teenagers find the Indie or rap genre of music as their favourite genre. This has given me an idea of what genres I need to focus on and I feel I will aim to target the Indie audience and will hope it will appeal to this particular genre.

From the find your tribe research I have found out that the tribe that I found myself in was the ‘rah’ tribe, this social group have a tendency to be able to party hard and not worry about the cost or the consequences, if this audience were to be targeted then I would have to have advertisements for most of the new technology and recent releases of music would probably be a good idea as well as the group do like to be popular and in with the latest things, this therefore could include new music and artists.

So having reflected on all these factors together I feel that I will target a young audience of the age 14-29 year olds into the ‘Indie’ music by making my theme of the magazine more about latest albums and feature a lot of up and coming artists, as well as well known established artistsand featuring gigs and festivals.</li>
