This document discusses the relationship between business ethics and social responsibility. It defines business ethics as responsibilities, commitments, quality, and reliability, while defining social responsibility as obligations companies have to communities beyond profit-making. Both business ethics and social responsibility are important for companies to achieve high profits responsibly. An example is given of Vedan Vietnam, which was fined heavily for untreated wastewater discharges. Nowadays, many companies see social responsibility as beneficial for business development. Finding a balance between profits and social responsibility can create new strategic opportunities for companies.
