2. BASIC THINKING
All teaching and learning systems should be built on two
foundations:
i. The needs of the intended students,
ii. The learning outcomes of the course or program
- the knowledge, skills, and attributes that students want.
The size and scalability of the online learning system are
closely related to these two foundations (intended students
and learning outcomes).
• Whether the program is to be delivered to a well-defined and
selected cohort of students once a year, or is to be made
available to all comers will have a strong impact on how the
system is designed.
