CONSTRUCTION OF CAFÉ PINK
2
CAFE P!NK
“Girls and Fun
All !n One”
3
PROJECT:
A project is a temporary endeavor undertaking to create a unique product, service or result.
PROJECT MANAGEMENT:
Project Management is the application of knowledge, skills, tools and techniques to project
activities to meet the project requirements.
PHASES OF PROJECT MANAGEMENT:
The phases of Project Management are as follows:
a) Initiating
b) Planning
c) Executing
d) Monitoring and Control
e) Closing
SKILLS NEEDED TO MANAGE A PROJECT:
Following skills are needed to manage the project of construction of Café Pink:
a) Identify outcomes and deliverables
b) Devise a sequence to achieve the goals
c) Recognize when the outcomes will be achieved
d) Identify the key issues
INITIATION PHASE
PROJECT INTEGRATION MANAGEMENT:
a) REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL:
The construction of Café Pink is a completely unique idea which would benefit the women of
Pakistan. Generally, women in Pakistan are unable to go out alone to have got together etc,
without being subjected to other biases. The community where we live, men are still dominant
as compared to women. Some of the families don’t allow their daughters to go out alone.
Keeping this fact in consideration, the construction of Café Pink will contribute positively to the
society and women will be given safe and healthy environment to relax and chat with each
other.
4
As the construction of café is only targeting the females of Islamabad and the employees will
also be females only, it depicts the uniqueness of the project; the idea is exclusively for women
of Islamabad where they feel free to spend the time with immense leisure.
The graph clearly depicts that the percentage of social work for women being done is minimum
that is just 30 percent of the total; therefore the project plays an important role towards the
increase of the total percentage.
The mission is to “PROVIDE SECURE ENVIRONMENT FOR WOMEN UNDER ONE ROOF”
PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
As we all know that women were treated inhumanely in the past, that trend is improved but
even now a days they are not accepted by the men and mostly the people with strong religious
families do not allow their females to go out alone because of the biased societies which exist
even now.
The main benefit of the construction of a café is to provide safe and secure environment to
women where even the religious families would feel free to send their daughters and females
as well. This will create a positive impact on the society in which we live and women will get
empowerment and social respect. Moreover the atmosphere of the café will make the women
to relax and the idea is completely novel, for there is virtual nonexistence in Pakistan of any
place such as the one proposed that is intended to serve the said purpose.
Our idea is very practical and workable because it successfully addresses one of the biggest
concerns of females within the country. The majority of women in Pakistan are unable to spend
a quality time out on their own because they are bound by social, religious and societal
restraints. The answer to their problem is, without doubt, ‘Café Pink’ where they can securely
take a break and enjoy whenever they feel the need to.

b) PROJECT CHARTER:
PROJECT NAME: CONSTRUCTION OF CAFÉ WITH THE NAME OF CAFÉ PINK AT ISLAMABAD
PROJECT MANAGER: SIDRA SARDAR MANN
CONTRACTOR: APEX BUILDING COMPANY
TENDOR: HABIB RAFIQ GROUP OF COMPANIES
DATE: 7th
OCT 2012
PROJECT OBJECTVE:
Recent trends indicate that it is getting increasingly difficult for women these days to go out, for
say shopping, travelling or working without being subjected to social and other biases.
Moreover, working in a secure and healthy environment is also growing difficult by the day for
women due to undue male dominance in the work place. All these factors act in concert with
numerous others to adversely affect female employment in the country, rendering women
unable to contribute positively towards the development of the nation. Hence, there is a need
for women to have a healthy workplace where they can not only work freely, but also relax and
enjoy themselves at the same time.
Our idea of construction of “Cafe Pink” is a unique and completely novel one that is intended to
attend to the various needs and demands of the female members of our society. It aims at
developing a marketplace, exclusively for women that will ensure provision of the cafe required
by them. The construction of a café will initially be provided to the women of Islamabad.
Apex Building Company (Pvt.) Limited submitted proposal to acquire the tender and bid on the
respected tender notice issued by Habib Rafiq Group of Companies. Apex Building Company
(Pvt.) Limited has a well organized project team as well as necessary equipment for the
construction of the Cafe.
Habib Rafiq Group of Companies selected Apex Building Company (Pvt.) Limited for the
construction of the cafe and approved their proposal.
BENEFITS OF THE PROJECT:
About 80% of the total population of working women in Islamabad faces the problem of
unhealthy workplace environment. As a result of construction of ‘Cafe Pink’, women will be
empowered through provision of employment opportunities in a female-friendly working
environment. Moreover, the majority of females who are unemployed and are based in their
homes will be able to utilize the cost-effective services in order to relax and enjoy themselves.
6
UNIQUE SELLING PROPOSITION:
The unique selling proposition of construction of the café is that it is exclusively for women and
they would be benefitted a lot through its construction.
PROJECT STATEMENT
To construct a café on the provided area of F7 Jinnah Super at a cost of Rs 10 Lac for the Habib
Rafiq Group of Companies (Pvt.) Limited, in 6 months starting 7th

Cafe construction project report

  • 1. 1 SUBMITTED TO: DR, ALI AHSAN SUBMITTED BY: MISS. SIDRA SARDAR MANN DATE OF SUBMISSION: 8TH OCTOBER, 2012 PROJECT OF PROJECT MANAGEMENT CASE Business School CASE Business School CASE Business School CONSTRUCTION OF CAFÉ PINK
  • 2. 2 CAFE P!NK “Girls and Fun All !n One”
  • 3. 3 PROJECT: A project is a temporary endeavor undertaking to create a unique product, service or result. PROJECT MANAGEMENT: Project Management is the application of knowledge, skills, tools and techniques to project activities to meet the project requirements. PHASES OF PROJECT MANAGEMENT: The phases of Project Management are as follows: a) Initiating b) Planning c) Executing d) Monitoring and Control e) Closing SKILLS NEEDED TO MANAGE A PROJECT: Following skills are needed to manage the project of construction of Café Pink: a) Identify outcomes and deliverables b) Devise a sequence to achieve the goals c) Recognize when the outcomes will be achieved d) Identify the key issues INITIATION PHASE PROJECT INTEGRATION MANAGEMENT: a) REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL: The construction of Café Pink is a completely unique idea which would benefit the women of Pakistan. Generally, women in Pakistan are unable to go out alone to have got together etc, without being subjected to other biases. The community where we live, men are still dominant as compared to women. Some of the families don’t allow their daughters to go out alone. Keeping this fact in consideration, the construction of Café Pink will contribute positively to the society and women will be given safe and healthy environment to relax and chat with each other.
  • 4. 4 As the construction of café is only targeting the females of Islamabad and the employees will also be females only, it depicts the uniqueness of the project; the idea is exclusively for women of Islamabad where they feel free to spend the time with immense leisure. The graph clearly depicts that the percentage of social work for women being done is minimum that is just 30 percent of the total; therefore the project plays an important role towards the increase of the total percentage. The mission is to “PROVIDE SECURE ENVIRONMENT FOR WOMEN UNDER ONE ROOF” PROJECT DESCRIPTION: As we all know that women were treated inhumanely in the past, that trend is improved but even now a days they are not accepted by the men and mostly the people with strong religious families do not allow their females to go out alone because of the biased societies which exist even now. The main benefit of the construction of a café is to provide safe and secure environment to women where even the religious families would feel free to send their daughters and females as well. This will create a positive impact on the society in which we live and women will get empowerment and social respect. Moreover the atmosphere of the café will make the women to relax and the idea is completely novel, for there is virtual nonexistence in Pakistan of any place such as the one proposed that is intended to serve the said purpose. Our idea is very practical and workable because it successfully addresses one of the biggest concerns of females within the country. The majority of women in Pakistan are unable to spend a quality time out on their own because they are bound by social, religious and societal restraints. The answer to their problem is, without doubt, ‘Café Pink’ where they can securely take a break and enjoy whenever they feel the need to.
  • 5. 5 b) PROJECT CHARTER: PROJECT NAME: CONSTRUCTION OF CAFÉ WITH THE NAME OF CAFÉ PINK AT ISLAMABAD PROJECT MANAGER: SIDRA SARDAR MANN CONTRACTOR: APEX BUILDING COMPANY TENDOR: HABIB RAFIQ GROUP OF COMPANIES DATE: 7th OCT 2012 PROJECT OBJECTVE: Recent trends indicate that it is getting increasingly difficult for women these days to go out, for say shopping, travelling or working without being subjected to social and other biases. Moreover, working in a secure and healthy environment is also growing difficult by the day for women due to undue male dominance in the work place. All these factors act in concert with numerous others to adversely affect female employment in the country, rendering women unable to contribute positively towards the development of the nation. Hence, there is a need for women to have a healthy workplace where they can not only work freely, but also relax and enjoy themselves at the same time. Our idea of construction of “Cafe Pink” is a unique and completely novel one that is intended to attend to the various needs and demands of the female members of our society. It aims at developing a marketplace, exclusively for women that will ensure provision of the cafe required by them. The construction of a café will initially be provided to the women of Islamabad. Apex Building Company (Pvt.) Limited submitted proposal to acquire the tender and bid on the respected tender notice issued by Habib Rafiq Group of Companies. Apex Building Company (Pvt.) Limited has a well organized project team as well as necessary equipment for the construction of the Cafe. Habib Rafiq Group of Companies selected Apex Building Company (Pvt.) Limited for the construction of the cafe and approved their proposal. BENEFITS OF THE PROJECT: About 80% of the total population of working women in Islamabad faces the problem of unhealthy workplace environment. As a result of construction of ‘Cafe Pink’, women will be empowered through provision of employment opportunities in a female-friendly working environment. Moreover, the majority of females who are unemployed and are based in their homes will be able to utilize the cost-effective services in order to relax and enjoy themselves.
