1. This photo uses
symmetry and is
using direct address
to look at the viewer;
this creates a
confrontational and
aggressive
atmosphere, which
can often be
associated with rap
and hip hop music.
Sepia colours and
high contrast creates
a more vintage look
which is also
apparent in Dooms
music.The artist is also
wearing a mask, which reinforces the war like, menacing feel that is sometimes connected to
hiphop/rap. We can also see that behind the mask is a man, which is stereotypical of hip hop as a
very male dominated style.
This image again uses symmetry
and direct address to speak to the
viewer. As a electronica artist we
see a slightly more relaxed, casual
image. Although symmetrical the
left side of the artists face is less
well lit and we can see clearly that
a light source is coming from our
right. Scale has been used by
leaving a larger amount of foliage
above his head, this gives the
impression of depth and size.

2. This image shows “madlib”
surrounded by vinyl records, create
quite a manic chaotic feel, the artist
himself is also slightly off centre, this
shows use of rule of thirds as he has
been placed on the intersection, a
slight depth of field has been used to
slighty blur the background. This
image is quite bright and is lit mainly
from behind and above.
This image shows the Brian
Jonestown massacre in the
desert. The image has been
taken as a long shot,
including their whole bodies.
A filter has also been applied
to alter the contrast and
lightness as well as adding
noise and giving a vintage
look. The image is quite well
lit (appears to be natural
lighting)

3. The image has a vignette around the edge although can’t be seen completely due to the dark nature
of the background. A high contrast has been used to make the band stand out more from the harsh
deep black behind. We can also see a three shot has been used to show all members of the band, as
well as the symmetry of the cups and positioning/way they are facing.
