2. IS OVERUSE OF SOCIAL NETWORKING AN
ADDICTION
• Social networking can be over used as a way to escape from
reality.
• Symptoms of social media overuse are similar to those of a
alcohol or drug addict.
• Social media addiction is not included in the manual of mental
disorders.
• From completing my research paper based on the symptoms
such as withdrawal I would deem constant over use of social
media an addiction.

3. WHAT MAKES PEOPLE CONTINUE TO OVERUSE
VIDEO GAMES AND SOCIAL NETWORKS
• Introduction of MMORPG’s (massive multiplayer online role
playing games) e.g. World of War Craft and Call of Duty
• System of goals and achievements.
• chat on online games.
• Anonymity on social networks
• Social element of social networks such as Facebook .

5. CAN SOCIAL MEDIA REPLACE FACE TO FACE
INTERACTION
• Introverts:
- Neurotic
-more comfortable using social network
• Extroverts
-nonnarcotic
-rather face to face interactions
• Due to the different personality's social networking will never
completely replace face to face interaction

6. PRIMARY RESEARCH
• After conducting a survey among students it was found:
- All students use social networks
-most students spend between 1 and 4 hours a day on social
media
-50% of students use online gaming
-over 90% think overuse of social media can become an addiction.

8. CONCLUSION
• Social media is becoming a first second and third place for
people.
• Social media is an addiction.
• Social media will not completely replace face to face interaction
due to different personality's.
