Accelerating Mobile Application Development and Management with APIs
Exposing mainframe applications and data to mobile devices makes business sense, but how can you ensure that the
critical connection of z Systems to mobile and cloud applications is as straightforward as possible? This can be achieved
by exposing existing z assets as APIs for accessing Systems of Record, while leveraging mobile and cloud capabilities with
new Systems of Engagement applications. In this session, we will explore enterprise Node.js apps for delivering
enhanced customer experience (with mobile and cloud adoption), how to accelerate development and management of
SoE APIs with StrongLoop, and how to leverage z assets with IBM API Management.

Creating Business Value through Mobile, the API Economy and IBM z
The fastest and most cost effective way to expose a business’ core capabilities to new channels such as mobile is to
leverage existing investments in mainframe applications and data. This session will introduce the value that z Systems
brings to the mobile and API enabled enterprise. Get an overview of the mobile and API enabling capabilities available
in IBM offerings such as CICS, IMS, MobileFirst Platform, Management and IBM z/OS Connect Enterprise Edition.

Creating True Customer Value at the Intersection of Mobile and Analytics
The integration of mobile and analytics can help organizations gain business insights and provide a more compelling
experience for customers. With information from analytics, companies can cater products and services to individual
customers and more easily detect fraudulent activity. They can also steer their businesses toward new growth
initiatives. This session will discuss how to use analytical insights that can be seamlessly integrated with real-time, on-
platform transactions and data, to determine next best actions or detect fraud quickly. To realize these benefits,
enterprise database technologies must provide a hybrid transaction and analytical platform, and z Systems can offer an
unparalleled environment for supporting end-to-end analytics.

Developing, deploying, and managing applications for the Enterprise with WebSphere Liberty Profile on System z
In 2014 IBM introduced a strategy for continuous delivery of new capabilities in WebSphere Application Server Liberty
Profile. The WebSphere Application Server Liberty Profile is a complementary feature of the WebSphere Application
Server (Z and non-Z) and CICS Transaction Server. Join this session to walk through the process of creating a WebSphere
Liberty application in Eclipse, packaging the configuration, then exporting, installing, and running it on System z. Both
z/OS and Linux on z runtime environments will be shown. New features, like the new Remote Server support for Liberty
applications using the WebSphere Application Server Liberty Profile Tools for Eclipse, will be demonstrated.

Do you need to monitor JVMs on z/OS or get ready to?
Java applications running on z Systems are becoming more prevalent and IT needs to understand how JVMs on z/OS are
configured and functioning, enabling performance optimization and fast problem resolution. This session will describe a
new IBM offering to expand management to any JVM running on z/OS including those in CICS, IMS, DB2, WebSphere,
standalone, and others.

Exposing Mainframe Applications and Data for Mobile with z/OS Connect
This session will deep dive on the latest mobile and API integration capabilities of IBM z/OS Connect, which extends the
value of applications that run on z/OS by allowing clients to easily create efficient and scalable APIs for contemporary
mobile and cloud applications. With IBM z/OS Connect, Application developers, with or without z/OS-skills, can
intuitively create RESTful APIs from traditional z/OS-based assets. Mobile application developers, whether they are in an
enterprise, with partners, or are key innovators in an industry, can easily incorporate z/OS data and transactions into
their applications without the need to understand z/OS subsystems.

Implementing Java Batch under the WebSphere Liberty Profile
Organizations are faced with a dual challenge – maintaining 24x7 uptime for on-line processing systems coupled with
processing ever increasing data volumes in an ever diminishing “batch window”. IBM can help your organization achieve
continuous interleaving of batch and interactive (OLTP) processes, and reuse assets written in Java, COBOL, PL/I, C/C++
etc. rather than re-writing or “re-platforming” these assets. This session will present new options available with
WebSphere Application Server Version 8.5 that include new capabilities to manage large record volumes and to lower
batch processing elapsed time, to deploy Java batch applications for the Liberty profile and integration with external
enterprise schedulers. If your workload includes IMS, you will learn how this workload is included in a modernization

Leveraging your Investment in System Z to Create New Opportunities in the API Economy
The emergence of API's has changed how organizations build innovative mobile & web applications, enter new markets,
and integrate with cloud and third party applications. System Z customers have made significant investments over time
developing valuable assets which support core business functions. System Z customers can leverage these assets by
exposing them as APIs for both internal and external application developer consumption. With the help of IBM API
Management, these organizations can govern the way that API's are consumed and get detailed analytics on the success
of the API's and applications that are consuming them. This session will show you how companies can expose System Z
based functions as APIs in order to create new business opportunities, gain efficiencies in rapidly developing applications
and extend customer reach and improve customer service.

Managing Mobile Workloads on IBM z for Optimal Performance and Reliability
The availability and ease of user access to mobile devices translates to more frequent but less predictable access
patterns. Mobile apps and the systems of record they need to connect to need to work, be available, and perform all of
the time. Mobile apps also need to scale so that they are not overwhelmed by their own success and can be available for
worldwide use, 24/7/365. In this session you'll learn how IBM Service Management Suite and z Systems, together with
other IBM operational and IT analytics products, help z Systems clients and their system programmers and
administrators face the challenges of the mobile revolution. Learn how the resiliency requirements of mainframe
applications are maintained in support of new workloads such as mobile.

MQ Initiated CICS workload - Parallel Sysplex Implementations
Application integration has often centered on using production transactions in new combinations and from new 'feeds'.
Increasing use of mobile devices and giving a cloud appearance to existing transactions often means that increased
availability is necessary, using both MQ and CICS in a parallel sysplex fulfills the availability requirement - giving the
greatest level of information availability of any platform. However this availability can come at some subtle costs. In
this session we can discuss issues we have seen, and how to avoid them, along with your Queue 'Plex questions.

Unleash CICS Business Critical Data Locked in VSAM
Data Analytics help organizations understand their customers and anticipate their future behavior and needs. This
insight helps deliver the high level of personalization and service that consumers expect. Unfortunately many
organizations still have mission critical business data housed in VSAM files which creates a number of issues that include:
VSAM data is not structured for use by market analytics tools, not be encrypted at the field level, making PCI compliance
difficult, and VSAM data has a number of limitations in a highly available (24x7) environment. This session will dive into
IBM solutions that enable a low-risk migration strategy from VSAM to DB2 while ensuring optimal application

What You Need to Know about CICS Consolidation and Threadsafe Applications
The CICS community has been discussing the Threadsafe topic for quite some time now, but it is still a very relevant
topic due to ongoing enhancements in CICS. Threadsafe applications typically experience performance in terms of
reduced CPU utilization and greater throughput. In addition, many customers find that they are able to run their
existing CICS workload in fewer CICS regions, which helps reduces administrative overhead along with additional CPU
We will customized this session to fit your level of understanding and use of threadsafe in CICS. Our experts will discuss
technical aspects of CICS’s Open Transaction Environment (OTE), along with the business benefits of running
