Gender Trends at the
Modern Workplace
The importance of gender diversity at the workplace
is a well-accepted fact.
Organisations are keen on improving their gender inclusivity efforts.
In the last few years, this transformation has gathered pace.
The Human Resource function is going to play an even
more important role in leading and shaping the future of
business as we know it.
Though 48 percent of Indian population is women, their
participation in the workforce is merely 28 percent
A BCG survey, which covered 1,500 employees across 25 large
Indian companies, focused on uncovering the intent of corporate
India in bringing about gender parity and inclusivity.
The report stated “women’s representation in Indian firms
stands at around 27 percent of the country’s total workforce.”
Men constitute nearly 75% of
the country’s workforce.
Catalyst’s study found that “companies with the most
women board directors outperformed those with the
least in terms of Return on Sales (ROS) by 16 percent
and return on invested capital (ROIS) by 26 percent.”
