Current situation
Investment in the InfoConnectivity System (ICS) should pay off in:
• raising flight destination rating
• improved rating of transport modes
• optimised passenger flow
• new revenue possibilities
Due to global competition of flight destinations, new systems to
improve passenger focused travel information should be used
to strengthen European airport regions.

Current situation:
Shortfalls in travel information provision
• inconsistency of information through incompatible systems
• expected but unavailable information
This causes problems for travellers,
adding up with the following:
1) Separated management of information by "owners” lead to

(not in time or place to foresee or counter a problem, bad
hearing/seeing/mobility, stress and high mental workload)
• are not understood

Information must relate to the currently
experienced situation to make sense and allow for
uptake, understanding, decision and action. This
way, even sudden problems/needs can be handled
by a traveller.

in (waiting) situations, where mental workload is low.

The ICS turns the traveller’s environment in a constantly
improving and seamless information ecosystem over
time.

formation of an ICS Consortium of Stakeholders
from the airport region: airlines, airport, public

Editor's Notes

  1. An old and a new EU member state was chosen, along with a non European country to compare the needs of travellers by country. In addition they were chosen for their differet language and alphabet. Russia, as a country with increasing numbers of travellers coming to Europe was of special interest since these visits already now contribute considerably to incomes of several member states.
