Over the next five years, global health is expected to see innovations in research, technology-enabled transformations, and measurable improvements to health outcomes by 2020. The volume of medicines used globally will reach 4.5 trillion doses and spending will reach $1.4 trillion, with China, India, Brazil and Indonesia accounting for nearly half of increased usage. Innovation will drive transformation of disease treatments with 225 new substances launched and over 470 drugs available to treat orphan diseases.
