3. History
Pen style personal networking gadget created in
2003, by Tokyo-based Japanese technology
company NEC.
P-ISM was first featured at the 2003 ITU Telecom
world held in Geneva, Switzerland.
The P-ISM system was based on "low-
cost electronic perception technology" produced
by theSan Jose, California, firm of Canesta
4. Designer of P-ISM
said that
”In developing this concept he asked
himself – “What is the future of IT
when it issmall?”
The pen was alogical choice.
He also wanted a product that you
could touch and feel. Further, the
intent is to allow for an office
anywhere.
5. Introduction
P-ISM - Pen-stylePersonal Networking Gadget Package
This'pen sort of instruments' producesboth thesoft-output as
well as the Virtual keyboard on any flat surfaces from where
you can carry out functions you would normally do on your
desktop computer.
It isbased on Electronic perception technology.
P-ISM’s are connected with one another through short-range
wirelesstechnology
Thewholeset isalso connected to theInternet through the
cellular phonefunction
6. What is Electronic
Perception Technology ?
Electronic Perception Technology (EPT) is a low-cost,
single-chip imagining technology .
Oneof thefirst applicationsisa“virtual keyboard”.
EPT systems can accurately determine brightness and
distinguish objectsfrom oneanother.
Current EPT keyboards can sense up to 400 characters per
minute.
7. P-ISM package including five
gadget
CPU Pen.
CameraPen.
Virtual Keyboard .
Projector Pen.
Communication Pen.
10. CPU Pen
Thefunctionality of theCPU isdoneby oneof the
pen. It isalso known ascomputing engine.
Dual Coreprocessor isused.
Workswith windowsoperating system.
Therearefour stepsthat nearly all CPUsusein their
operation: fetch, decode, execute, and writeback.
11. Thecontrol unit of theCPU containscircuitry that uses
electrical signalsto direct theentirecomputer system to
carry out, stored program instructions.
13. Very effective because we can able to connect
whenever weneed without having wires.
Bluetooth is a packet-based protocol with a
master-slavestructure.
14. Virtual KeyboardVirtual Keyboard
Virtual Keyboard isanew gadget.
It emitslaser on desk which givesan alternative
input mechanism.
Based of Electronic Perception Technology.
Reducetherisk of keystrokelogging.
15. Reduce the risk of password theft from malicious
“Spy ware ” and “Tro jan Programs ”..
16. LED Projector
Theroleof monitor istaken by LED Projector which
projectson thescreen.
Thesizeof theprojector isof A4 size.
Resolution capacity of 1024 x 768.
Thusit isgivesmoreclarity and good picture
17. A video projector isadevicethat receivesavideo
signal and projectsthecorresponding imageon a
projection screen using alenssystem.
18. Digital Camera
Digital camerain theshapeof pen .
Useful in video recording, video conferencing, simply it is
called asweb cam.
Typesof digital camera
Compact Digital Camera
BridgeCamera
Mirror lessInterchangeableCamera
20. Battery
It isthemost important part in portabletypeof computers.
Thetypeof battery used hereislithium ion battery.
Usually batteriesaresmall in sizeand work for along time.
It comeswith abattery lifeof 6+ (i.e. 6days).
For normal useit can beused for 2 weeks.
21. The storage device is of the type tubular holographic
which iscapableof storing.
lithium ion battery in this gadget will reduce energy
density, durability and cost factor.
22. Advantages of P-ISM
Portable
Feasible
Wi-Fi technology
Based on Electronic Perception Technology
23. Disadvantages of P-ISM
Positioning ismoreimportant to useit to up to optimum level.
Keyboard concept isnot new.
Currently unclear.
Gadget isvery costly
24. Conclusion
Thecommunication devices are becoming smaller and
compact. This is only an example for the start of this new
technology. Wecan expect more such developments in the
future.
