• Four community-based fire prevention and peatland restoration models were developed during the
Participatory Action Research to Community-Based Fire Prevention and Peatland Restoration

• The Fire Care Community (MPA) developed a model on cultivating hardwood timber species and
ecotourism on a 2.2 hectares of public land (land owned by the village government) (pictured left and
center).
• The women group cultivated pineapple agroforestry on a 3.3 hectares of co-management land (pictured
right). Another farmer group works separately on 3.7 hectares of co-management land under model 2.

3. InternationalTropical PeatlandsCenter (ITPC)
• The farmers' family group developed and implemented a model on liberica coffee agroforestry in a total
of 1.9 hectares of action arena. The liberica coffee is intercropped with rubber and agarwood (pictured
left).
• A total of 311 households cultivated coconut in their home garden (pictured center).
• CO-PROMISE (Community-Based Peatland Restoration Monitoring System) encouraged community
participation in the monitoring process (pictured right).
