HISTORY
Augmented Reality applications based on geo-location for
historical heritage routes.

The students can create geo-located contents using the AR technology for mobile
devices to visit the ancient city of Tarragona.
Some of these routes lets students learn about historical and singular buildings,
monuments, heritage and public sculptures and more sights from their city.

‘FALCONES PROJECT’
Students from La Salle Virgen del Mar of Almeria have included AR contents to the
cover of the Best-Seller ‘La Reina Descalza’ written by Ildefonso Falcones.
The projects has been developed with the image recognition technology.

5 students - AR contents
7 students - multimedia content and the documentation
2 teachers

The students worked in two groups separated in the areas of
technology and documentation to generate the audiovisual and
digital content designed for the cover of the book

1. Explanation of the protocols for working with RA
2. Selection of physical work on which to deploy the experience:
the cover of the book ‘La Reina descalza’
3. Development of the contents :
– Biography of the writer Ildefonso Falcones.
– History of the gypsies in Spain, affecting the Great Raid of
1751.
– Slavery in Spain during the 18th century.
– Tobacco in the 18th century.
– The city of Seville in 1750.
– The Coliseum of the Prince in the 18th century.

For the creation of contents the students need to follow the next steps:
1. Creation of the image ‘TRIGGERS’
2. Upload the contents as ‘OVERLAYS’
3. Generate a new ‘CHANNEL’
4. Combine TRIGGERS and OVERLAYS in ‘AURAS’ to create ‘ACTIONS’

BLA (Bipolar Laddering ) method :
• Positive common elements
– the use and explanation of the AR technology
• Mention Index: 100%, Average score: 9.67
– the help/support of the faculty
• Mention Index: 100%, Average score: 9.00

• Negative common elements
– the lack of time to practice with this technology
• Mention Index: 100%, Average score: 3,67
– insufficient publicity given to the project
• Mention Index: 66,5%, Average score: 3,50

CONCLUSIONS
• high degree of involvement, motivation and satisfaction of
students in the use and development of content for viewing
through the RA
• working on a high profile piece of literature and having the
support of the author in the official presentation of the book
on the one hand led to an increase in students' motivation
• there was a general perception of a lack of a greater impact
of the exercise, associated directly with the impact of the
work
