Julie slide – what we did
It was clear that we needed a new model for the new academic year following the emergency response in March to deliver Remote learning
The model needed to provide the best of blends maximising high-quality face-to face socially distanced learning and high-quality digital learning
A Blended Applied Learning model was established through consultation across the institution, hearing from the sector, guidance from government, sector expertise (Jisc, Advance HE)
Development led by an Academic Task Group meeting 3 times a week throughout the summer to manage the scale of the challenge
Student Learning Labs – on campus experience – applied, high quality on-campus experience shaped by the applied nature of our University and designed through our pedagogic expertise at a subject level.
Digital Learning Experience – all primary teaching material is provided on our virtual learning environment. This is an innovative off-campus experience informed by decades of experience and award winning digital teams – synchronous and asynchronous activity
Personalised student experience – dedicated Personal Academic Tutors/College Advisors and Peer Assisted Learning Scheme
All inclusive digital support services – scaffolded support architecture – Library, Wellbeing, Union of Students
Careers-focussed – embedded and targeted support recognising importance of work experience and engagement
Extra-curricular experience – building connections with peers, community, City, County, University
